I was once a hater of Lil Wayne, but i thought The Carter lll was good. Then I saw this and my opinions changed. If you can watch the whole thing and say your opinion of Lil Wayne hasn't, then my hat goes off to you, you're one stubborn motherfucker. Enjoy.

no hate on lil wayne here. i'm actually a huge fan and i think he's clever as fuck and works his ass off.. but Biggie was different because he was actually a really good kid. i just watched a documentary about biggie and tupac the other day. biggie actually reflected other people's experiences in his rapping, not his own.. growing up he lived in a nice apartment, always had food on the table, and was a really really good kid.

Chali 2na (or any  memebr of J5), The Coup, De La soul, Deltron 3030, Fatlip, Brother Ali, Even Jay-z doesn't rap about that.

There are a lot more, but I think i've proved my point. Some may rap about women or weed sometimes like Jay-Z, but it's not the main focus of all their songs.

a couple other things to point out:

for people calling lil wayne a joke and not a musician, he actually does know how to play other intstruments such as guitar which is something that could not be said about a lot of rappers

also, i will agree with people saying that his lyrics are pretty negative and talk about violence and drugs and shit, but thats a huge part of what ALL MEDIA is. Turn on the news. you gotta be able to look past that shit in order to really appreciate the music..

Not much about drugs in dead prez, but both those songs are off the new mixtape Turn Off The Radio Vol. 3

I doubt the majority of people have heard of Sadistik or Blue Scholars. I think by well known we're talking about stuff that's on MTV or on the mainstream radio, stuff that has a large presence in the hip hop community.

I'm a huge fan of Lupe, but I can't believe you'd say him. Listen to the cool or food and liquor. Not hard to find the lyrics about drugs, sex, and violence.

Nas... really? are we talkin about the same nas here? the one who put out oochie wallie?


I know there's artists that don't talk about drugs, violence, and sex much, but the reality of it all is that those three things are a HUGE part of a lot there pasts.

Lyrics in Hip-Hop and music in general, as I see it, are a reflection of the artist and their life. To say that Lil Wayne can't rap about the drugs he does is like saying Lecrae can't rap about the religious life he leads. While two completely subjects, both play an integral part of the recording process for those artists.

People want to compare lyrical artists like nas, lupe, jedi mind, and all that other shit. You cannot compare them, two completely different styles. And BIG is sick no doubt, but people are hating that lil wayne says shit about drugs, money, and bitches....so in that case i guess you hate BIG, method man, jay-z. LIL WAYNE IS UNIQUE!!!! If you hear him on a track you instantly know it's him, nobody has his style of delivering music. fuck you haters im sick of it

Some people like to listen to lyrical artist because they have great respect for the lyrics that the artist is pumping out, some people like to listen to lil wayne because his shit flows, his lyrics are different, his shit sounds tight. Some of you LOVE to hate him, you all listen to his shit i know you do

People are saying that Lil Wayne is a great lyrical guy and all that which I can agree with I guess cause he is obviously doing something right because he is still around and making money. But the way his voice sounds like a computer just kinda gets to me.

I don't know. That electronic like sound from his voice and the auto-tune type sound I have never been a huge fan of. So I guess go ahead and call me a hater.

Alright sorry, I can understand that, but he doesn't always use autotune to change his voice. LIke drought 3, the carter, no ceilings. I feel like if you listen to those albulms you can't not like him

YES you guys are right!!!! But I'm not whining, this summer I was going to a lil wayne concert and i was stoked so i made a thread about it and guess what?!?! People tore me apart just because it was a lil wayne concert. Kids on this site go out of their way to hate on weezy, so im gonna go out of my way to defend him for once

i can say he sucks cuz non of this rapers are about anything real , a lot of it dosent even rhyme, iv herd him attempt to rhyme a word to it slef numerous times and he makes weird fucking noises when he spits

and iv never herd a line by him where i was even slightly impressed

Ok heres the way l look at this whole scenario. Kids on this site have a pre-disposition to hate on Weezy simply because everybody else on NS does and they feel like they have too also. Also a lot of kids have this weird hatred toward main stream music (Grammy winning Carter lll) for god knows what reason. Aside from that point, I'd say that a small percentage of people on this site REALLY DO hate his music (hopefully not him because none of us have met him, and he DOES work really hard on his shit. What other rapper puts out new shit on a daily basis?) but the other ones don't. I bet most of the kids who hate on him talk shit on here but then rock them on their iPod on the bus rides home from highschool and the hill.

and dont get me wrong, i think his new "rock" stuff is crap, but i also think its awesome that he doesnt care at all, hes doing what he wants.

ive read that the carter III, and especially lollipop, were just a joke/to prove that he could make a radio hit, now hes moved on.
