I didn't even listen to his earlier stuff, but I figured The Carter lll was worth a shot after hearing a couple tracks and bought it that first week. Later on I got the rest of his albums.

the full documentary is 8 parts, 75 minutes.

Like I said before, it's your opinion, but if you watch the whole thing you'll realize all he's trying to do is record the best music he can in order to elevate the whole music game, show other artists that being a musician is a full time job and you gotta take it seriously. He put out over 1000 songs in the last couple of years, what other musician does that?

Most artists put time into their music making each track the best of the best.

I'm not saying that all other rappers are shit either, just that Lil Wayne is better based on what he's doing for the game and his numbers.


Did you listen to no ceilings? Did you watch that documentary?

I don't believe that anyone who knows a thing about Lil Wayne can say he's a bad rapper.

I watched the whole documentary earlier this year and honestly it disgusted me. He gives a bad name to rappers and the rap game. He's not doing anything for the"game" except ruining it. He raps about materialistic shit and doesn't have any depth or intelligence to it.

Numbers mean absolutely nothing. Just because you sell a lot doesn't mean your good at all. There are so many good rappers out there that aren't well known because they don't rap about pussy, weed and cars. Check out Blu & Exile -Below the Heavens....It'll blow your mind

I'm completely awake and grown, thanks. Disrespects females? He had a kid at the age of 15, and married his baby mama, few niggas do that. He practically worships women, you'd notice that if you took a listen to any of his music, very far from disrespecting. If you're saying that having multiple partners is disrespectful, I don't know what kind of man you are. Go do some homework before you come at me.

I know music, I listen to plenty of it, I make plenty of it.


I said it earlier, if you'd listen to more of his music you'd see he raps about plenty more than cars (I don't see anything wrong with rapping about pussy or weed, they're both amazing and should be given credit where it's due) Even then, he raps about more than just weed or pussy and no matter what he raps about, he gives a different perspective on it.

Here's a couple recent quotes of his from skits and interviews on a few of his mixtapes.

"What up dog? This here's no ceilings man, welcome. I appreciate you for having this, if you're listening to this, thank you. First off, this for you... you, you, you."

"they ask me why do i do this, why, why, why do you keep giving out free music? why, why? because I'm weezy. I'm different. I have plenty of it, it's nothing for me to share. Priceless, that's why it's free"

His mixtape "no ceilings" was named as such because of Christopher Wallace and his quote "I would love for you to look up into the building and understand that there is no ceilings, there is only the sky, and the sky is the limit." Don't try to say he's disrespecting past rappers.




annnnnnndddd after trying to spread as much love for weezy as I can because I am a fan of his and his music, everyone's got their own opinions of his music, and I'll let it be.

However, if you've got an hour to crunch and some weed to break up, watch the documentary, fan or not, he's an interesting dude and it's cool to watch.

He can say its not about money all he wants, but its obvious he dumbs down his music for the industry and is all about selling the most songs. He doesn't care about quality he cares about quantity and $$$$

in my last post I said it, I'm not gonna be talkin about lil wayne anymore, however hip-hop is one thing I love to talk about. I've always been a huge fan of underground hip-hop (stuff that isn't played on the radio, I don't like to call it REAL hip-hop, cause no matter what it's all hip-hop, just like skiing is skiing whether it's in your backyard, in the backcountry, or at the local park) My love of underground hip-hop and rap founded my hate of mainstream hip-hop and rap, but once I got older, I realized that if you take a listen, the good rap floats to the service, even in mainstream. But sometimes you gotta look a lil deeper to see how real some rappers are.


HOWEVER, at the end of the day, listening to music is all about what makes you happy, that's why I can't hate on anyone who's a JoBro fan or whatever, if that's your thing, that's cool, it's what makes you happy, that's what life's about, and that's what hip-hop's about.



Which is why I like this song, I can relate to it and it takes me to a terrible part of my life, but now I listen to this song, think back, and smile.

He doesn't make money of all the mixtapes he puts out, how can he be about money? he doesn't dumb down his raps, he's never said that, in fact, he says the opposite, i don't want to find the interview, but he says, when asked about how racy lollipop is for it to be a single and if he thought about what people would think when he records and he says "i don't give a fuck what anyone thinks" he goes on more, but he records for himself. there is no corporation behind him, he records and puts out records for himself.

I know I said I wouldn't talk about wayne anymore, but I feel obligated to at least correct people when they're wrong. personal opinion is one thing, but to say he does it for the money is wrong. his goal is not about money. watch the documentary and you'll understand that.

As I've said, I have watched the documentary. I have also listened to a lot of his songs.

You can rap about racy subjects like he did in lollipop and they will play it on the radio because thats what they want. When I say he dumbs it down, I mean he only raps about materialistic things that the consumers want.

Listen to Lupes 'dumb it down' He talks about how the record companies told him his lyrics were to 'intelligent' for the radio.
Also Immortal technique won't sign with a label because they make him change his content he raps about, they try to control him.

Don't be ignorant, lil wayne obviously dumbs it down to sell the most. He dumbs it down to appeal to teens that want to hear about money drugs and sexy things

i just watched that entire thing and read all the comments. heres my two cents.
the guys music i hate. honestly , i dont see how people can like it, because i really dont see much in his musical talent. he just rambles off about random materialistic shit. after watching the documentary, he seems like a real douche. at the same token, hes an extremely hard worker. he truly loves music and thats the only reason i have some moderate respect for him (not his music though). ill leave you guys with some tracks ive been listening to a lot lately (ive re-found my def jux collection).

Let's for a moment look at Lost Boys. He rhymes Fee..with fee, you can't get much dumber than that..unless you stopped using words and just mumbled, which he does sometimes.


Lil Wayne is a fucking retard, the fact he 'only raps for himself' makes him seem that much more arrogant about his music. Him calling himself the best rapper alive? Is total fucking horse shit, the loudest voice in a room isn't always the correct one. He seems to be associating the amount of music you make with how good you are, which we all know is not true in the least. He's also a stupid motherfucker, HOW DO YOU SHOOT YOURSELF? I have been around rifles and pistols my entire life not once have I ever even accidentally discharged a gun..it's just something common sense stops. woah you guys must really know what's up posting jeru, el-p. and cannibal ox videos! it's useless comparing those artists to lil wayne b/c it's completely different music and the incompatibility across the genre is a useless and a tired comparison. do you think it makes you seem more knowledgeable because you mention those artists? you need to see the whole picture. hip-hop is so great b/c there is such a variation across the genre. everyone is going to have their preferences but crying "underground" every time lil wayne comes up is a fucking joke. learn the whole genre first before you simply respond with underground schpeel as if that trumps everything else in the game. here is a lil wayne remix of "a milli" that i really enjoy mainly because flying lotus is so ridiculous but i have respect for wayne's style as well. dude is innovative and was the first to perfect the style he uses so give credit where it's due:

I'm so sick of this mainstream versus underground hip hop stuff.  Theres crappy unknown rappers too and theres some mainstream rap songs I still like.  What you don't like the blueprint 3 cause Alicia Keys sings the hook on one of the songs?  Give me a break.  These generalizations are retarded.  Naming underground artists that are good does not prove that someone who is mainstream is bad.

I just like good hip hop in general.  Lil Wayne is so lyrical its mindblowing.  Yea his rhymes aren't traditional but get over it, its a completely new style and its good so respect it.  He created his own style and so many people try to jump on it but can't.  He puts out a ton of trash but he also puts down some great verses over some great tracks.  Get over it.
