In my opinion I'd avoid s3s as a park ski. Didn't enjoy them for jibbing much myself. Does ok in the pow, does ok in the park but nothing special. I found them a fairly heavy ski, not that poppy, kind of damp feeling.
For Park i'd go Alpha 1 or Reno Rocker. Reno Rocker being my preference.
Alpha 1s are most fun park ski I have ever skied (they were my brothers so I didn't own them) and the race base is really just as durable/ if not more durable than any base out there if you wax it on a regular basis and keep it in good condition. If you take care of your ski your ski will take care of you.
If you hit a rock with any base its going to take damage... I should have reworded my early post better: Alpha 2s probably wont dry out and get slow as fast as the Alpha 1 would (I was talking in terms of speed of the base not wether you can smash it on rocks), but if you take care of the Alpha 1 your base will preform better/ for longer... If you hit a rock with them its probably going to fuck any base up... Simple solution is to not hit rocks...
im pretty sure im gonna get reno rockers for next year but im also waiting for next years rockered skis to come out. and im demoing some S3s this weekend!! anybody feel free to pm me if you have any questions about how they ski, weight, etc.
i was just saying in terms of durability. and im going to face the fact that im going to hitting some rocks/log by accident every now and then when i ski
Nine Lifes have rockered tips and tails and and camber in the middle...Just like Alphas and Fujas and I think S3s. NLs rocker is small, sort of like Fujas.
well, they do have a little bit of early rise. assuming they werent mounted dead center, they wouldnt be awful. but if you want pow performance, you want the kung fujas. period.
i woukld go with k2s , there light and there park skis are built for perfection and they all have rocker (the next years do) the olnly probl with them ull get a ton of lil niks on top sheet but it would stop perfromance !
My threads... Thinking of either getting the reno rockers or the armada alpha 1's next year. I want a full semetrical ski so im assuming the rockers will be better for me
carving reno rockers isnt that bad, they hold an edge before you dull the edges too bad. Also you listed in your earlier post that they might not be as poppy as a cambered ski. I think they have just the same amount of ollie power as a pipe cleaner. I rode pipe cleaners in park all of last year and reno rockers all of this year in park so far.
