Good HD cams for filming...

So we are in the market for a cam for putting together some stuff from both on and off the slopes.

Curious to hear what others have had success with.

As everyone will say on NS. HV30-40 or Hf20. I'm rocking the hf20 and so far, REALLY impressed with the results. Bought it with the Air-miles reward program so it cost me next to nothing..

yeh we hadn't planned to consider anything but Canon, but figured we'd ask anyway. Have heard/read nothing but incredible things about the HF20

Depends what your budget is. under 1000 hv20-30-40 no questions asked. Throw a wide angle on it and its super sick and is comparable to +1500 dollar cams. If you have a massive budget then hvx200 or hpx170. Both are amazing like you couldnt get a better cam. They run around 6g's. or just get the red scarlet when its out ;)

hah, we def don't have the budget for any of the red stuff, while we could afford a pro level cam, it just seems like complete overkill for what we need right now. The HF20 is nice cus it uses SDHC cards which we have about a million of.

Mini DV is nice, curious if the HV line can change lenses, It doesn't seem like the HF line can.

what ever you do, never get an hd camera with the built in hard drive. avchd files are so god damn hard to work with.

eh, we have gotten used to it.

Most of the hate that is directed at the game is our fault anyway, we didn't have a marketing person or PR person and said more then we should have too early on.

It's all good though.

But yeh let's try and keep this on topic. If you wanna bitch about the game or the lack of a miraculous overnight completion of it, start a new thread or PM us lol.

well that's true I meant adapters etc. There is a wide angle adapter available for the hf20

Think the HF20 is the route we are gonna take.

Yeap. and the thread size is 37mm. I have a cheap kenko fish-eye and it does the job.

The HF20 is a Hard Drive cam right? With SD capabilities. Apparently the files that come with the harddrive cam are a pain in the ass to use and edit with. The HF200 i think uses just SD cards. I thought i would tell you that since you said you wanted to use the SD cards you had laying around.

i dont know a whole lot about the hf series but i know the hv series you can run pretty much any type of lense on there. Right now i have a raynox 6600 52mm on and its super sick. I've seen some of the most rediculous set ups on it. check out http://www.hv20.com// pretty much can answer anything for the hv series and a lot of other cams.
