Absolutely agreed.  The way he took that impact on his side like that, he could have exploded some vital organs.  Beastly for sure that he could even stand up after that.

Probably because you don't get the same viewing angle. And if you crash up there you will just fall into the middle anyways. But it probably would be a little safer.

I Hope Dumont is ok

the audience ? cuz i don't think it'll make a big difference for the athletes, when you look topdown it'll basically look exactly the same.....

and what do you mean by "if you crash there you'll end up in the middle anyways"?
yes, you will slide off towards the middle, but thats not the thing that breaks your bones, its the impact in the coper, on the flat part of the half pipe that does.....

good idea, but that would be pretty much impossible for a groomer to make. They would need to build some form of attachment or something on a pipe dragon to be able to cut it at that angle and groom it.

Well, it would decrease impact on the first hit (when you hit the deck), but it would also bounce you WAY out into the flatbottom, and in a 22 foot pipe that is a long way down to flat.

Depends on the crash, it would be better for some, worse for others. Also building it would take a ridiculous amount of snow.

having seen what monsterous grinders they currently use on snowcats to shape halfpipes i don't think it'd be too much engineering / constructing/ investment to add an inclined part on the end....

but yea, for manually grooming the pipe you're pretty much ffed...
but doesn't the safety of the pipe outweigh the maintenance cost ?
