Coming back from knee injury

so this season i tore my ACL and miniscus and now i am so bummed but am determined to come back! but tonight we were watching RE:session and this dude was like you wont be able to get down like you used to, and i was like FUCK THAT im coming back for sure. but anyways i was wondering how many of you guys are thowin down after having a similar injury

i tore my mcl... its all goods but i just have to strap it hard out and i wear a massive brace. i ski just the same, if not better!! just do your rehab real good and you'll be gold mate!!

no torn acl, but torn meniscus and articular cartilage, had to have microfracture surgery.. was out from running/sports for 6 months doing lots of rehab but now im back throwing down harder than i was before with no pain, just take physical therapy seriously and keep building up your leg strength as much as possible before you get back on skis

Unless you're 50 years old, or have destroyed your knee several times, you'll recover. I tore my ACL and MCL last August, and am almost back at 100% now. In fact, having a bum knee has forced me to primarily land switch, and as a result I've learned a few really rad tricks. Just take your time and hit the PT hard and you'll be fine.

GRAWWW i just want to have my surgery so i can just REHAB already it suck living at the base of the mtn. and not being able to go on it

I just found out today what I suffered from.  Last friday I was going for a 7 at Stowe, and I tore my ACL in half and bruised all the bones.  I didn't think it was ACL seeing as I got up and skied down carefully yet confidently to the bottom like 2 minutes after doing it.  I am almost walking completely normal after 5 days.  I am scheduled for surgery around March 4th or somethign like that.  Just get your full range of motion back now or you will never have it, and work hard to strengthen your muscles  After surgery, work as hard as you can.  I am not looking forward to it. 

I have a question, can anyone who has torn their ACL jump on trampolines?  And how long after can you.  I cannot spend my summer any other way than being on a trampoline.

I took five months off from trampolining after my ACL injury, and now I can jump with a little bit of care. I haven't tried any flips with large spins that might twist my knee, but I'm fine with just straight flips. The trampoline impact doesn't bother the knee at all.

last summer I partially tore my ACL, MCL, and Miniscus, and strained my pcl and lcl which was a blaaaaaaaast. no surgery, cause it was only partially torn, and my dad has major connections at osu's sports medicine place so got electro therapy and did water treadmills and pressure pants and all that for 6 months and then 2 months of getting stronger and came out of it pretty much the same as when i went in. I got really serious about progressing my skiing after that tho and have been putting in a ton of time off the slopes with my dad training me on the trampoline and in the gym and ive been throwing down this year except for a 2 week break after a concussion.

Oh for sure. I was skiing the whole week before I had my surgery "December 8 " and from Building up your muscles and getting your full range of motion the surgen and Physical therapist Cleared me to ski mid march. only 4 months after surgery. really quick recovery... Get a brace and go with the Patella Tendon gragh, its a lot stronger if your at a young age and have time to build you new Acl. Look into either a Donjoy/ CTI knee brace for skiing in the future.

just had my second knee surgery, tore my right knee at the start of last season then tore the otherone at the start of this season.  So i havent had a full season in two years.  I only got 20 days in before i hurt myself this season and it was more of a mental block then my knee holding me back...also if you have the choice get the hamstring graft not the pattella (comming from someone who has had both)

i tore my acl and meniscus in jan of last year. it was one of the most trying ordeals in my life to date. but looking at it in retrospect it was also a blessing in disguise. I got back into riding slowly, listened to my body and my knee. Now mid season my knee is stronger than it has ever been, I am in the best shape of my life and I am skiing 10% better than last season. I didn't expect to return from knee surgery and straight kill it. But I think when u can't ski it puts it all in perspective and hard work does really pay off.

Are you sure you arent me? I tore my acl at mt snow about a month ago and got up and skied down the mountain. Also having mine reconstructed on march 4th. Weird. Good luck man. And +Vibes for everyone whos had knee troubles.
