Homemade Rail/Box Innovation

I know this should be in create a jib, but i wanted some responses. So I know alot of people just use PVC pipes. I was thinking, and I came up with this. What about using the PVC posts that are used in fences. Like the crossbar posts...they are a couple inches wide, 1 peice. Sounds good to me. What do you guys think?

I'm not 100% sure what you are saying, but I think:

Make sure your skis actually slide WELL on it (Take your ski and slide on the post and see if it slides nicely)

Make sure the post is strong, you don't want it breaking on you.

I like the idea, but aren't the posts a little bit short?

Yea i was thinking maybe connect like 3 together. i think they come in 6 or 8ft segments. i meant...lay one of the posts on its side, wide side up

i bet it would slide well but those fence posts seem pretty unsturdy. like they would shatter or crack if you skiied on them

I agree but if you put a ton of supports under the rail then you might be able to distribute the weight of a person sliding across them evenly enough that they stay intact.

I think he meant that the weight/impact of a skier landing on this would crack the plastic regardless of amount of support underneath it.

if its hollow slide a piece of wood into it that fits nice and snug and you wont have to worry about it breaking.

Cut it in half so its like [  ] then you would have 16ft of it (if you buy the 8ft one). Then place the on top of the wood so that the sides of the pvc go over the sides of the wood and drill it there. That way it would just be like sliding the wood.

Hopefully that made sense

I have some of this stuff, and it has vertical supports on the inside. I've jumped up and down on it and it won't break.

Or you could buy composite decking, its very similar to these fence pieces.  Basiclly its plastic wood so it wont rot.  I have made 3 different boxes with it and they always slid well.

its a great idea but your gonna have to put a 2X4 under so it doenst break ..2X4 come in 8ft pieces so you can probably do something with that if the pvc is 6-8ft long

I guess none of you read what I said, so I'll say it again. IT HAS VERTICAL SUPPORTS INSIDE. A 2x4 WILL NOT FIT INSIDE, NOR CAN YOU CUT IT IN HALF AND PUT IT ON A 2x4. IT WILL WORK ON ITS OWN.

^ im not sure caps were needed but i no there is a type of gutter that u can put on top of 2x4 (im planning on using it for a flat down this year)
