How is that "hypocritical bullshit"? I'm not investing in coal. You have no idea where I get my electricity from(one can buy green energy nowdays on the market). In the northeast U.S. you can buy renewable electricity for about 17 cents a kilowatt hour whereas regular electricity costs 14 or 15 cents a kilowatt hr. (About 20% more expensive. Clearly way less than the 1000% increase stated above. Quit believing every word on Fox News (or maybe just get parents that aren't republicans? haha jk. but seriously.). As far as investing in energy; invest in the future. Don't invest in a source of energy that we've been using for hundreds if not thousands of years and is damaging the environment every day of our lives. There are other sources of energy out there like wind, solar, natural gas or nuclear. Coal is far and away the dirtiest way (also the most carbon dense) for us to get our energy. Maybe we can't completely eliminate our impact on the environment but we can certainly minimize it. I can't believe that I am actually having to convince skiers that climate change and polluting our environment is a bad thing.
Also, to the person that said 95% of the energy to turn chairlifts comes from coal
here's a chart of where the U.S. get's its energy.
