I worked at Domino's a few years back. We actually did use real cheese and dough. It was one of the top 3 stores in the nation though so it was a test store for a lot of stuff. The dough was tossed in corn meal instead of flour though and the cheese is absolutely drowned in starch.
People should really support their independent pizza joints though. Usually if you use a coupon its not that much more expensive, and you can at least have the comfort of knowing your toppings were actually vegetables at one point, as opposed to places like Domino's where they come precut in vacuum sealed bags and are all nasty. And you know your sauce is actually tomato paste and water mixed together with spices, as opposed to Domino's where it comes in a giant tombstone pizza lunchables style plastic thing.
I've worked in bunch of different pizza places, and at Domino's they actually tell you not to do basic quality control things (like popping dough bubbles), in order to crank out more pizza faster. Thats why chain pizza places blow. Plus mountain towns always have the dankest pizza places.
