Ok, this may get hated on, but this is based on a friends' experience down in Africa. So, my friend went down to Africa for somewhere around half a year; where he was staying, the citizens viewed all of the aid programs that are set up to help them as basically a myth. These people have no idea where the money is going, or how the aid is helping them at all. I'm not necessarily saying that nothing is being done in different areas, but I just thought I'd post this because it made me wonder.
where my friend was staying, the people didn't believe anything was being done to help them. It was almost a joke to them. I don't really know the whole story, its basically what he said.
Yep, my roommate grew up in Cameroon for 16 years. He says giving money to those programs is just about as useful as mailing them an AK-47. His parents run a hospital there and rarely see any of the money they are supposed to get from charities.
thats fucked up man, but if you divide all the money that is donated by how many people are to receive it, i bet it wouldnt come out to that much. this is speculation here
The corruption in those governments is unreal. I watch a documentary don't remember what it was called ,but it was on the discovery channel and they tracked where the aid went and a lot of the money ends up in government hands and bags or rice and food that was suppose to go to villages is sold on the streets for money.
Most of these organisations soak it up in so called "Administration Fees". Also alot of corruption from said governments recieving aid money. Its a real fucking shame because there has been so much money donated and sent yet little improvement because it gets squandered on the wrong programs. If your gonna donate, definately check who its going to and have them prove it.
Our senior class raised 2000 dollars for an organization called the Clear Water Foundation. I know that organization is actually getting the money to the right people
