Rockered all mountain skis

I just want to get some opinions about some good all mountain/pow skis. I'm looking for something with rocker and normal camber underfoot. I'm 5'5" and about 135lbs. I'm not concerned with how well the skis handle in park at the moment.
It would be best to hear from people that have actually skied some of the sticks in this category.

my vote is the obsethed, but you would have to pick up this years unless you like the brand new design for next year.

this year, 105 underfoot, rockered tip and tail...is one hell of an all mountain ski if i say so myself

well, i've been riding non-rockered all mountain skis, and i can tell you what those are like

I am on moment tahoes (very much like the jeromino, fujah, so on). They have a good amount of camber and are fairly stiff.
I took them to vail. They didnt want to float. I tried to slarve around in the soft on trail fresh snow, they wanted to carve.
I skied them in Stratton. They tore shit up. incredibly stable at high speeds, they like to carve but if there is a good amount of ice, they wont hold th best edge (no ski will though...). in the softer groomed or even harder, non-ice groomed they will carve and tear shit up.

my next ski is the ON3P jeronimo. no doubt about it, as much as i like to carve, i like to slarve and have a little more fun. The tahoe is more of a specific ski where the jmo just does it all.

Thanks for the info so far. Seths sound damn good to me, I hear they're soft and buttery, which is fun. Any  opinions of the Armada JJ's or moment night train?

what kind snow? on trail fresh? on the side of trails? striaght up BC? where do you ski?
we need info. Cuz the S3, jmo, fuja, and tahoe are all in the like "under 100 range". The jj and seths and night train all break that barrier and your now in the 100 zone. then that can turn into the 110. where are we drawing the line?

Its hard to define any specific type of snow, that's why I said all-mountain. In short, I'm looking for a do-it-all ski, but keep in mind that I won't be using it in the park much at all. I mostly ski Breck, Vail, A-Bay, and hit the occasional backcounty line. As far as as width underfoot, I'd like to break 100mm, but not go over 112 or so.

If your still considering obsetheds, I Picked up a pair at the beginning of this season and could not be happier. I got em as a deeper snow ski but have been skiing them everyday. They have a narrow enough waist and are stiff enough underfoot to ski anything and still have the soft tip and tail and wide nose in the pow. They have short but quite abrupt (?) rocker so you still have a long cambered section underfoot, but have the lift to get your tips up in deep snow. They actually float like a dream, I dont think you would need anything much wider. They chatter going high speeds but you will get that with most, if not all rockered skis. I would say if your going with the obsetheds pick up this years or last years (same ski) and not next years. Next years could be awesome but the new shape could also change the versatility of the ski.

well in that case go for the obsetheds or ON3P wrengade/billy goat (althought they are 113 and 115 underfoot).

Shoguns! DONE done and done

If you want to get a little softer with more rocker do the Czar they are both amazing skis! Ive skied them both in every kind of condition, youd probably like the Shogun the best. They handle amazing on piste and handle wonderfully in the BC. hope that helps!

181 Wrenegades. Jeronimo is more of a fat park ski in my opinion. Especially for the West.

I've pretty much narrowed my choices down to obSETHed, S3, Shoguns, and JJ's. I've checked them out in shops and they all have their unique aspects and I don't really know what I'm going to do from here to choose. I must say though, I'm leaning towards obSETHed and JJ's. I've heard great things about both. ON3P skis sound sick but I'm not sure that I want to buy a ski without being able to see it in person first.

how heavy is the ON3P Jeronimo? And how do they ride in comparison to what you have tried

Ya, I just don't want to buy a ski without seeing it in person first, and I don't think any shop in CO carries them yet.
I think I've decided on the Armada JJ. A good decision?

The Jeronimo isn't even comparable to the JJ or S7 obsethed in size. It is only 96 underfoot in comparison to the rest, which are all 110+ I think.


Not to throw a wrench in your gears, but look at the Surface OneLife ski if you are stuck debating skis in the 110-115mm width, a cat or two on here prefer them over JJ's, and say they are lighter.

I'm trying not to be a dick, but you piggbacked my thread asking about Jeronimos, then told me the skis I was looking at weren't comparable to Jeronimos. Not to throw a wrench in your gears but I never said anything about those skis.
Thanks for the recommendation on the OneLife though.

Rockered all-mountain and no park? You want the 182 Moment Garbones or next year's 182 Belafontes. I should be getting a pair soon and will of course update with review towards the end of the season.

Ahhh I thought you had been considering the Jeronimo's.....

My bad.

I am still curious of the Jeronimo's performance as my all mountain powder killer for out west. then the 110-115 width ski for the deep days (like the One Life's)

if your only worry is seeing it in person, then thats a pretty stupid reason not to get it. If you were really flexing these skis and examining them in person, thats a little different (no offense but i doubt you are).
If its about the looks of the skis or something, ask anyone, they will tell you ON3P are some of the best looking skis out there. i wouldnt knock it out just because you havent actually seen it.

and ON3P skis are not sold in stores as of now. they are a smaller company, so their skis are made to order. that's another reason to bring them back on your list. they don't just press out ski after ski so they can get them out to resellers, each ski they press (at the moment at least) is made for you when you order it. and it is also handmade and fully inspected instead of just getting thrown into a box and shipped off with a warranty to cover any mistakes (ON3P still does have a warranty though).

As a matter of fact I am flexing skis in shops, examining the camber and rocker, looking for symmetry in rocker (I've heard some salomon skis have a problem with this), feeling the weight, and seeing what the sizes are (I've noticed that a 170 for instance in on brand might be a little longer than a 170 in another brand). Appearance isn't very important to me. I'm a pretty light person and I've heard that ON3P's are stiff so they not might be so good for me. I've also got a bad ankle so something softer in the tip and tails will be easier on that.

I'm trying to gather some real information and opinions on skis, I'm not just some idiot who wants to buy everybody's favorite skis.

Ya, I'm considering that too. I'm not meaning to trash ON3P, they look like a sick company and I'm very in favor of the pocket they are filling in the ski industry. But they're too new for me to pick something up slightly used.

what you will mostly get from NS is everyone's favorite ski

and for the record, i do not own and have never skied ON3P skis, but i do work in a ski shop and know a lot about skis and in my opinion, not as an owner but as a man of the trade, ON3P should not be taken off your list. im not telling you to buy it, i just think you should still consider it.

talk to any of the guys at ON3P about your ankle problems or what ever, they will work with you so that they tweek the ski to fit your needs, such as a softer tail (but not right now because they are going on no sleep getting everyone's orders done).

Ya, I was reccomended the JJ at a shop or two. ON3P skis are sick and pretty cheap new, but I don't have the money for them right now. That's why I'm not looking at them now. Maybe in the future if I can land an internship or something.... But I'm going second hand for now.

I just put a 1.5cm early rise, 20cm from the start of the tips on my 185cm Rossi Steezes. OMFG, do this. Everyday carving camber, nice fat waist, still good turning radius, AND HOLY SHIT pow performance... Yes.

And with Dynafits on them (not ideal for everyday... lol, maybe some lighter alpine binders), THEY'RE FUGGIN LIGHT.   Ok, just showing off. Good luck with your quest!
