whats everyones opinion?
thinking of going out there and getting a house with like 5 friends that all ski and just having a good time.

also anyone know the requirements to get in?
like gpa and act score?
let me know if anyone knows just off the top of their head.

fine by me, i'm sensing you have alot of pent up anger. want to talk about it? that and your facts a little off their...my church dosn't belive in peligamy, thats FLDS(fundamental latter day saints). and i think all of those 'rules' help make me a better person as opposed to some douche who goes around smoking blunts and drinking beer and 'railing broads'. my two cents though. take it or leave it

as far as im concerned mormons are not any different than any other person whos real religous. jew, muslim,hindu,haisidic jew, catholic, prodestant, ect.


that said i think all people who are religous are pretty whacky, i just think its dumb how people key in on mormons and just hate on them.

I agree, but on the same note, I can't slight anybody for having faith in whatever they so choose. No one can prove the existence or non-existence of a god or multiple gods. If a specific religion makes someone happy and provides fulfillment a self worth to their life, then I am all for it as long as they are not hurting anybody in the process. That goes for atheism as well, I thought a lot of the ideas behind atheism, as far as being upset about other religions preaching and trying to reel in new members to the church was something many atheist despised, but it seems to me more and more often that atheist are some of the quickest people trying to persuade someone to become a non believer. Just my two cents though.

im strongly considering moving to SLC. Kind of debating the U o U myself even.

Raining my ass. So much snow you guys have had like 4-5-6ft of snow in the last haven't you? Although it was pretty dry from NYE until just recently.....

this is a pretty informative thread. helps a lot in some aspects. college is college though. theyre all pretty much the same. location is the only thing that changes. they all educate you, just with different levels of creditability and types of people interaction.

yea but it is also about how much chiller CO is then UT. and i have lived in both of places so yea. CO in general is just much more chill.

my advice is visit both. i had the same problem. i was 100% sure i want to go the the U of U for like 4 years but then i decided on engineering and CU is one of the best engineering schools (30 overall, 19th amongst public schools). so i was about 50 50 when i visited both and CU blew the U of U out of the water. in my opinion its no contest. In terms of engineering, CU is far superior and the campus is absolutely gorgeous. but CU is pretty expensive for out of state. you can establish residency and petition for instate classification but its a pretty intense process. just visit them and see whats a better fit man

Ok I didnt read all of these posts but DRY CAMPUS means PARTY AT A HOUSE OFF CAMPUS. Not hard to find house parties in a college town.

But real question... Do they have an Electrical Engineering school? And anyone go from out of state? How much are you paying?

My friends parents are the head of the medical department at U of U and they never shut up about how ridiculous the mormons are there, but I'm probably going to transfer there for fall semester still, Ohio sucks....

hey man the only thing i can say is that it depends on what engineering program youre looking at.. i know im goin into biomedical and utah has an AMAZING program with the second most research opputrunities behind only MIT.

May i please add a question of my own, sorry to jack a thread?  Im kinda split between yale and utah.. I know that sounds ridiculous but im really not too sure if i want to push myself that hard at yale and i already have some friends at utah.. anybody know if theres any decent skiing even close to yale?  and if so what is it? i know it wont compare to the u of u but thats a big component in my decission..

sorry to bring up an old thread but i never really understood the whole dry campus thing, like i know it means no alcohol on campus but does that mean if you are caught with it off campus by like the cops or something could you get kicked out?

Kids would get caught all the time, you'd get written up and have to do some bullshit, i got in trouble once and had to take an online alcohol class, which you had to take a test at the end and i got the answers to it, so i let the videos of the class play on mute while i watched tv. Then i had to writing a 500 word essay on what i did wrong, etc, which is a joke for a college student. I knew kids who got caught upwards of 8 times and they claim they kick you out after 3, its pretty mellow if you're not an idiot though, not getting caught is pretty simple: dont play loud music and dont be loud in general after like 11pm, which for some people in somewhat impossible.

ive been accepted and im heading out there next year...im pumped...as for the long distances from dorms to other campus buildings get a bike or a long board thats what a lot of students do and they have an amtrak if you wana go into the city

The University of Utah is the most fun I've ever had. I was able to ski five days a week(thanks to tuesday thursday classes), met a bunch of cool people, smoked a ridiculous amount of weed, and still managed to do good in school. Living in the dorms was a blast. Go there. I also rarely interacted with any practicing mormons, plenty of jack mormons, but they're cool.

Its really gonna depend on how motivated you are.. on the money thing, im getting paid a couple thousand to go there so its sweet fro me, but its a pretty cheap school in general.. and i know they have a super good biomed engineering so im pretty sure theyd have electrical
