Not to hate on shaun white, but if red bull built anyone there own private olympic / xgame superpipe with an outdoor doam pit.   you could do that stuff.   hes a spoiled punk who doesnt help the sport, he hurts it.   He doesnt care about the people around him when it comes to riding or he would be part of the frends crew with every other snowboarder.   If he doesnt win pipe in olympic and xgames, hes a joke.   the only people who had a chance to beat him are out for the season.   Kevin Pearce got screwed last xgames because everyone has there lips on.....   KP had the better run.   T-Hall will always be better because he cares about the sport not his own image.   Riding is meant to be fun, watching him takes the fun out of it.   T-Rice is the best boarder in the world, 2nd J.Jones.   Those are the ones to watch.   F*ck shawn white

He has openly said he scarred to ride alaska because of the whole unknown thing.

no. yes he is a total dick, but the kid has talent like you wouldnt believe. hes been amazing since he was a youngster, before he had the private pipes and things.

the hate here is ridiculous. I mean i've never met the guy and I'm sure he's a twat. But hating on the guy for his training is just ridiculous. When Michael Phelps won all those gold medals, nobody turned round and said "thats not fair, it doesn't count he practiced first, what a dick". Like it or not pipe snowboarding is an olympic sport and in general people train for the olympics. Yes he has a private pipe with a foam pit , but Red Bull didn't just give that pipe to a random boarder they met on a bunny hill and magically he became the best in the world. Shaun White was on top of the sport before all that stuff and now he is taking it to a new level. Nobody claims it doesn't count when the american athletes win loads of olympic golds, even though they have far better training facilities than most other countries.
The guy may not be the best snowboarder in the world. Snowboarding is divided up, just like skiing. Who cares if the guy wouldn't ride alaska. Most of the guys in alaska can't throw pipe dubs. Its pretty much a different sport. Its like arguing that T-Wall isn't a good skier because he doesn't straightline alaskan faces.
In short the guy is a tool, but you have to admire the skills he has.

Kevin Rolland and X. Bertoli were training at the french olympic facility and they ski.   Shaun White doesnt care about anyone excepty Shaun White.   The Olympics are about the best athletes coming together and representing their countries.   Shaun White is only representing Shaun WHite or he would be training with the other potential olympic halfpipe athletes.   THink he really cares Kevin Pearce is in a coma, or Danny Davis is out for the season, hes prob realized the only riders who could beat him are out.  
   Its not hard to say, oh you other athletes can come train with me, except between these hours is my private times to help prepare.   Hes training alone.   He doesnt spend anytime helping to train the future athletes or prob generally care about them.  

Shaun White might be considered a legend to some, but a true legend is someone who gives back to the sport as much as he takes from it.   Shauns hasnt given anything to the sport, hes has mad skill but his humanity is totally missing.   Muhammad Ali showed the world the side of boxing that no one ever thought of before, Wayne Gretsky and Steve Yzerman are both coaches now.   Yzerman is coaching the canadian olymipic team.   Michael Jordan, became an owner.   Bobby Jones(all while suffering being sick while performing and winning) from gave us Augusta and the Masters.   All the dogtown z-boys have trained the future skateboarders.  Alva and Stacy gave more to extreme sports than anyother athlete can ever give.   Seth morrison and all the others gave us freeskiing.   Howie Long is just a legend and so is John Madden.   Sports arent all about winning, your legacy is from what you give back to the sports that give you so much.  

What will Shaun whites legacy be other than metals.    Hes wont be remebered for his love of the sport, competitiveness is not a legecy, its a trait of the sport.

while i'm not the biggest fan of him your rant makes no sense at all.  he's still in his prime winning medals, why the fuck should he be coaching some people?  "Seth morrison and all the others gave us freeskiing".  ok and shaun white has pushed and pushed pipe skiing progressing it a ton, isn't that giving back something?  all of these people you are referencing are retired, i just don't see any of these points as valid at all.

white isn't the only one with a private pipe session. it turns out that the frends crew had their own private pipe session with an air bag paid for by nike last season. kp talks about it in this twsnow interview .
