Video Camera

So i am looking into buying a video camera, i would like something that puts out good video but that is also not the top of the line, i am in a video production class so i know how to use more sophisticated cameras, what do you guys recomend?

And if you want a display you can add one for 50 bucks. And you can put in a 32gb card.

i have a canon vixia hf10 its not exactly advanced or anything but was a pretty good price its an HD. All in all i think its a really great camera.

realistically, all of NS in on the go pro's jock right now. Don't get me wrong, they are fun little cameras, and the quality is great. My friends have one, and I do love it. But, if you are in a video production class and you want to learn more about filming and using cameras, then its not the right choice. I have always thought that motion looks a bit odd with go pro footage. Still, if you want a cheap little camera that you don't have to worry about if you are just going to follow cam friends all day, it would be a good choice. It depends on how involved you want to get in the process of filming.

The HG20 has a hard drive, get the HF10 if you are considering the HG20. Its basically the same camera only solid state.

Does anyone know anything about the Panasonic AG HMC40
I have heard various things about it , Some like it and some hate it because of lack of manual features and other various problems
any feedback?

I have the Canon vixia HF10 With a couple different lenses, camera handle , and some other stuff and it’s a great camera. Has good quality and is great for skiing with and follow cams bcause it has a solid state flash memory recording which doesn’t screw up when jumping up and down because it has minimal moving parts. I got all my stuff for about 1300$ and i am trying to sell it because a new camera was given to me as a gift . I am willing to sell it for cheap is anyone interested. If so i can post picturesStartFragmentEndFragment

Depends on price range. I dont see the point in paying more for the same camera for that sort of reason.

Solid state memory wont break, and a hard drive most likely will, being used while skiing.

you can add an SD card to match the price of the HF10 and if the harddrive doesnt break you have an extra 32 Gigs

Yeah maybe dvx because dont get a hmc40 its just about the same thing as a hv30 just with a bad lens hood.

Whatever floats your boat, but i wouldnt take the risk of skiing with a hard drive. In the HF10's highest quality setting you can record up to 2 hours of footage which is more than enough.
