sooo i really loved the movie and saw it 3 times haha. ive been arguing with some of my freinds whofor some reason a few wont be convinced its possible one of the best movies ever made (just an opinion dont hate). I hope this shows em.

i personally found the movie to be just mediocre. the plot was predictable and the story in general was kinda weird/confusing. on the other hand, the CGI was awesome but that cannot make a movie good if it kinda fails from the beginning. and the worst part was    weed + movie popcorn + Avatar = still not that good. i was going into it ready for my mind to be blown and was rather let down

I was high as hell during Avatar and had no idea what was going on, visually it was wild, but dragged on for too long. I fell asleep for the last 15 minutes.

I personally thought it was awesome. I am a geog major so of course I am biased towards the values it promotes, and obviously the visuals were like nothing ever before.

No, it doesn't beat star wars. But it's one of my favorite movies I've seen in the last 5 years at least.


As for the plot. It isn't original and yes it's predictable. The idea of sustainability and connectivity has been around forever. Same with the natives. Same with the "American Hero" character. Find a high grossing movie made recently that doesn't borrow ideas from other movies though.

What I thought was good about this is that it's one of the first to convey these ideas in a way that is appealing to the average person as well as others. Who is going to take pocahontas seriously other than little kids? This movie has enough visuals and fighting and love aspects to keep a huge range of viewers entertained. The world that he created is where the real creativity is expressed, and the plot is just a good message and a means to convey this.

nope it was done on purpose. the navi have 4 fingers and toes, but the avatars all have 5. reason is the people controlling them have 5, so its an easier transfer for the people to control navi with 5 digits. JC knows whats up.
