LA is crazy right now. There was a tornado warning in Orange County, I've never even heard of something like that. Its weird though, its a bunch of different fronts or something, so its just coming down like mad for 5 or 6 hours and then being sunny for the rest of the day.
Hopefully it'll turn into snow at Mt. High, but it isn't very cold.
It has not stopped snowing in two days and is not supose to stop for a few more. I can not wait unitl my days off. I think i am going to demo some pontoons. :)
Not only mammoth, but a lot of Tahoe already has over 30 inches. Doesnt look like 10 feet anymore, but its still going to be sweet and enough to do a bunch of sick things.
The PNW is missing out because all of the storms are going toward California. Damn El Niño. Remember, PNWers, we want a trough of low pressure right now. Think, low pressure.
fucking typical el nino. When that jet stream splits... usually means good things for the sierras, just like the really bad season of 04/05, where the sierras got pummeled by storms like this. feet after feet. Yet the pnw got screwed. I get sad looking at the satellite images of the storms just lining up to take down california...
I'm sitting here right now watching the snow just pile up.
Its been going for bout 35 hours now.
Probably already have 3 feet.
Doesnt seem to be letting up
infact its supposed to get really crazy in a day or two
So this is why I worked 12 hours a day all summer.
CHEA!
Yep. I'll be skiing fresh tracks all Saturday and possibly half of Friday. They're saying 4-6" tonight and a foot tomorrow and another foot that night and who knows what Thursday and Friday have in store.
Everyone knows that it's Sierra cement and our five feet of powder will just be wet and heavy, California sucks, don't come here.
So much snow! it's actually awesome snow too -- no cement!
Rode for the last 2 hrs the resort was open yesterday. lapped chair 1. According to the lifty, there were only 7 people lapping the chair. Tracks refilled every run and every hard turn was a face shot!
Utah is getting a shit load aswell. Its been such a slow start to the season we are desperate for snow. 35 inche in the past 2 days has made for some epic pow days only more to come. 50 inches predicted in the next 3 days at LCC WORDDD
southern vt has been completely missed by all these storms. the new years storm basically formed a circle around my location...it was the patchiest fucking storm. southern vt got nothing, stowe got like a few inches, and burlington got hammered
A few days before Christmas I was at Mammoth, and the last day I skied was the day where 14" fell overnight. Light ass snow and when 9 opened, I traversed over to Dragon's Back/Wazoo and the wind blew lots of snow into it and damn it was amazing. Deepest 14" I'd ever skied haha. I would love to ski 9 on a week like this.
