( Cliff Notes and end )
So basically I was getting tired of my boots that ive had for 3 years. There some old cheap technicas that i got for dirtcheap on my first year skiing. By now there packed out, cold and just uncomfy.
I decided I would buy some new ones, i wanted something freestlye specific but not too fancy so i went with some SPK kaos, i did alot of researching and figured they would be great for my wide feet. While i was in Laval QC i went to Axis and tried on some 08's or 09's ( which ever are the yellow and black ones) which they had for $299, i was in a rush so it was a quick fitting and i decided they felt prettty good ( this was before i was serious about buying boots) so i come back to Ottawa and decide to give them a second fitting but my local shop only had the newer ones which i figured would be fine because i heard there more or less the same boot. This time i did a shell fitting, walked around in them for a bit and took my time ensuring it was a good fit and came to the conclusion that 25's were right for me. Just my luck the cheaper ones at Axis only came in 25. So i call up my aunt who lives there and ask her if she could pick them up so she does.
So i get the today and try them on and they felt suprisingly big, i go try on my old technicas and yes, the SPK's are bigger. Now this is a giant fail on my part because the whole point in getting boots for me was to ensure i had some really good fitting ones, ones that would enable the best performance but keep my feet comfy. I did a shell fit and its 1.4( ish ) inches from my heel to the back of the shell. I checked the bootsole lengths and the spk is 297 whilst the technica is 293, it doesnt sound like that much but its enough that when i put my foot in i can feel the difference. I even used one of those little footsize measurers at the shop and it told me my foot was at a 25 ( maybe a tiny bit more )
Anyways so im stuck here, with the technica on my left foot and the Kaos on my right, wondering weather i should go with my better fitting yet cold and uncomfy ( ive had it on for 10 min and my feet already want me to take them out ) OR i could use my new shiny SPK's that are extremely comfy but are perhaps too big, which would, in turn, probably equal to cold feet.
Should i use my technicas and tough it out for the rest of the season , and let my SPK's sit in the corner of my room, teasing me that my feet arent quite big enough for them yet, and wait until next season to use them. Or should i sacrifice and take the slightly too big kaos's for they are comfy.
CLIFF NOTES: I have some 3 yearold techincas which neglect to keep my feet warm, and are a tad to narrow which makes them incomfortable so i decided i wanted to get rid of them .I tried some 25 mondo 09/10 SPK Kaos, felt good, found a better deal on 08/09 ones so i got my aunt to pick them up ( im 2 hours away from the store and didnt get a chance to fit them properly). Got boots today, turns out the 08/09 fit a bit bigger than the 09/10 ( huge fail on my part because the point in me getting new boots was to get ones that fit really well) so now im stuck deciding between 3 year-old, better fitting (length wise) , feet hurting technicas or brand new, pretty, freestyle specific, comfy but slighty too big( length wise) SPK's.
Should i go with the techinca's and save SPK's for next season or ditch the technicas and go with the SPK's
