I guess ski slopestyle isn't cool enough to be shown on TV? Even though the snowbording seg was sooooooo boring. Most boring dubs of my life, and is it just me or did EVERY boarder do the SAME tricks on the first 2 rails? I am really pissed I just wasted an hour and a half of my life waiting to see what was bound to be an AMAZING ski slope comp. And it all ends with Wallisch in some 3rd place shit for what should have been top trick... Some bullspit
Yea everyone's going to be up for that shit :\ This is a perfect example of out sport being steriotyped and blanketed from snowboarding. I am fully confident the skill level in the ski slope is going to crush the snoozefest boarding was, but the public will never know now... Least I can record it and watch it tomorrow I guess.
this is fucking stupid. Its all fucking snowboarding these days...why
even have skiing in the dew tour if your not going to showcase it to a
broad audience? Every gaper and joey that I have asked thinks that
skiing is way more appealing to watch than snowboarding. I have no
disrespect for snowboarding but why not give our sport the public
exposure it deserves? Its bull shit that snowboarding is being played
in primetime and skiing is on at 2 in the morning. Skiing slope runs
are way more gnarly and technical then snowboard runs. And we do more
difficult shit. And where is the creativity in snowboard slope runs? Look at charles gagnier, he is doing some of the most innovative, creative, and spectator appealing tricks on rails in his slope run. someone needs to do something over at allisports or nbc
and change this...its just plain not fair
on mtv2, there was a commercial for something their going to start up on saturdays with like extreme sports and there were alot of shots like including bobby brown's run last year and simon in the pipe. kinda got me stoked
There is only so much skiing and snowboarding you can nationally televise at one given time, and right now, with the Olympic hype machine cranking along, you are going to see a lot of park and pipe Snowboarding and a lot of racing for skiing, simply because in the whole scheme of things racing is still bigger in skiing than halfpipe or slope. So naturally this is what you will be shown on TV. The good news is I have some skiing slope shots from qualifying on Saturday that I will put up on YouTube soon, and Im sure the slope finals will get reposted on there after someone records it on their tivo.
2 am eastern, 11 am western. just like how it was on the first stop. Seriously what the fuck is up with ski slopestyle getting the shaft. The Dew Tour is supposed to be about progressing and promoting winter action sports yet they air it at a time when the only other thing on tv is a fackin sham wow infomercial.
i think the snowbaording runs arent that bad, i thought the rails werent too bad, i wanted to kill myself watching the jumps though, 900, backside nine, 1080 swith 1080, onlyyyy thing i saw, except for the 1440 wich was pretty nice
You do realized that it's WAY harder to spin on snowboards, right? I'm just glad that snowboarding isn't the spin-to-win contest that skiing is. Most people are holding their grabs to the end, and doing more than 2 grabs.
the snowboarding was live so that's probably a huge reason why they showed that instead of the previously recorded ski slope style. i was pretty pissed too but at the same time it sorta made sense to air the live coverage instead of previously recorded footage...now lets just hope they show mostly mens skiing on USA instead of a womens 360/540 snowboard comp. no offense to the ladies, but if USA shows more womens snowboarding than possibly one of the dopest slope style comps ever, then i will be soooooooooooo pissed.
I remeber a little while ago there was a poll for which clip would get played. it was between women's snowboard pipe highlights, andreas' winning run, and danny davis' double that they allready re-played a million times live. i was thinking "shit, andreas is crazy, that run is probably pretty sick and i bet people who dont ski would be blown away by it." but obviously they played the danny davis clip because realistically it was between womens pipe and danny davis, and nobody wants to watch women's pipe again....shit was pretty weak
So far, every stop for the dew tour, I've had to bend over backwards and jump through hoops to find the skiing slopestyle coverage.... so fucking annoying, seriously
people need to relax. a few years ago skiing wasn't on tv except for xgames so i don't know why people are bitching. its more pathetic when people hate on snowboarding to justify why skiing should be showed. take the tampons outta your asses and appreciate that it isn't the same as it was a few years back.
uhhh i recorded it but it was still pretty lame. i thought most skiiers did the same thing on the first 2 rails haha no one used the toyota box, and no one hit the far top 2 rails... and what the hell was up with wallishes boots?!? did they look like nike high tops or whaT? haha and ya wallish deff got first
you're all such whiners its unbelievable. it took snowboarding 20 years to get to the point its at now. skiing hasn't even been in the xgames for 10 years, nevermind any other comps. plus, youre all complaining about TV. TV companies are slow as fuck to change anything and make bad decisions all the time, particurlarly, NBC. (ie NBC's current late-night debacle). plus, the dew tour is on USA. woo-fuckin-wee. Lets face it: the reality is that very few people care about snowboarding slopestyle and even fewer people care about skiing slopestyle. and yesterday was the nfl playoffs, so the whole country, except for all the whiners on ns, were watching football.
and shred runs and ski slopestyle runs are the same. some low-speed rail trickery up top, a 9 one way, a 10 the other way, and then a double, followed by high-speed rail spinning/flipping at the end. interchange switch take-offs and landings, maybe throw in a couple 12s and then you've got yourself a dew slopestyle. aren't you bummed you missed that on tv? just wait for the comp wrap-up edits that will be online shortly. they're more entertaining anyways.
