park is amazing right now, good setup, especially the rail line. only 2 prolbems tho, the butter pad is kinda weak in my opinion. its just a kicker, maybe it could be repositioned so that you can grind the coping on the top or something. second, could we get the dfd placed a bit further down the hill, just a tad bit hard to get speed for it.

true, but right now its kinda missing something. an idea i thought of today was to take the short handrail and put it in like a canon off of it. now people could get creative

Not sure where to put this, so Ill leave it here. Can we get a middle hit again, perfects needs a nice 20-25 step up because 1) Its rare I can clear the bottom hit like I want to, can only hit it at night because of speed. 2) Your completely forgetting about a whole skill range of kids. Kids learning can hit the top 5 foot jump, then take their trick to the next size hit (30ft?) Doesnt seem like they have a whole lot of options.

Poppy (like the bottom hit) 20ish foot step up is my vote. Majority of the park doesnt even hit the tall tee anyway.. even though it was sick when it was set up at the bottom.

This idea would be so sketchy that almost nobody would hit it. I was thinking it would be cool if they set it up where the tall t rail is right now, and have it standing strait up so you could hit it like the tall t. But make a lip off to the side of it so you can ride it like a wall ride. I think that would be sick because it would be two featres in one.

Also the side hip thing all the way bottom right. Is nice but somewhat useless. I catch edges trying to do 3's on it. And it's too sketchy to take it at the angle it's setup at because you'd be landing in the landing to the 35ft. I like the dea of having a 20ft step up a lot. Doing tricks on a 5ft jump then taking them to a 35ft is just insane. But I could be wrong about all of this.

The small step up thing is now gone, and the 2 big jumps have been reshaped and made more step downish in preparation for the big air on Saturday. If imagine after we get through this crazy week the park will probably be switched up a bit.

Thank you Jon.

I know park crew has their hands full, but it would be really nice to see a medium sized step up that is low consequence and easy to learn on. I know that in my case I have a hard time getting myself to do things on the jumps we have now because the top one can be rutted/sketchy/icy/whatever, and the bottom jumps are just too big to learn on, and straight airs aren't fun for too long. As a result I usually end up doing rails and waiting for PFC to do jumps.

Kind of a bummer.

Anyways, just a few suggestions. Take what you will from them.

Yeah i'm working up a re-shape of the park, and trying to get things figured out. If anyone has some thing they desperately need to see suggest now, but i think the new layout should be good. Adding some rails and a middle jump, and others..

The Cold temps and the big air have us in a holding pattern right now, but i'm looking at next wednesday for a rebuild.

I think the kink box set up as an up down would be sick?

But then again I wont be well enough to ski til march so keep that in mind, but please do these for pfc!

MIDDLE HIT STEP UP.

or a step up somewhere wherever possible. I know they take a lot of snow and speed.

I just feel like im held back in terms of what I can potentially do on jumps with what I'm given to work with, and I think a step up would be soo nice

If you guys keep the jumps big jump and add a middle  and we need a lot of speed, cant you blow snow for a steep tall drop in... bw has that at the top... its a little hassle getting up, but it works if your trying to get a 2 or 3 jump line going. I think if you pushed a bit of snow into those wood sections it would work and look legit

I agree, just looking at the park its lacking length. I think you could get a good 3 to 4 jump line if over the summer you guys cut out a section of the woods to the left of center(to the side of that 4 person chair is) and put another gate to the park. Start high up the hill and start the first jump before or right where the dfd is.1st jump (which could be a pretty good size jump too) and work from there with 2 or 3 more jumps or do rails. which then gives u all that room on the right of auditions to put rails and get creative...  skiers and boarders could hit a jump or two and escape to hit a couple of rails . only problem is increase traffic on the lift to center.

well Im just talking clean up that section a little bit, so you would still have to hike, but you wouldnt have to be stepping over logs to get speed.

Yea, that's a huge deal for a ski resort to do, Im just saying if they cant move it. I think that could work.

Encore would be sick for a new park... but there is a no lift right there.

This sounds stupid but sorta makes sense to me. But make it center stage. It would really cut down on the amount of gapers getting hurt. It seems like every weekend i'm there most of the injuries come from the center stage area. And its long and steep enough that you could actually get speed for the bottom kickers. But that would be getting rid of one of a huge portion so I don't think that will work. But it was just a random thought.

center stage is sooooo way too steep for a park. I get what you're saying about the top portion being there to get speed but thats pretty much it, you couldn't really put anything on that part...

Yea center is so steep for park, encore? any one agree? i know its not that wide tho  

But i still think if you put a new opening into the park viva center stage and clear some of the woods and start the jumps right  in the park on the left side if your looking down hill at the lodge. First one would most likely be big, and you could so get creative with it. mix it up with jumps and rails to the side. Just an idea...  this is much better than doing physic and engineering labs for school on a sunday.Click for larger image

Ha, you guys do realize Perfects is a business and that the park makes next to nothing money wise. So that would take out getting one of the major hills for a new park location.

2nd, adding another gate is a lot more difficult than it sounds. Sure it could/ can be done but with the industry the way it is right now, meaning lawsuits against ski areas and their parks, its a risky move.

Just to be clear, I dont think we need a new gate, nor do we need to move the park, because honestly that probably wont happen anytime soon anyway, but I do want that top area cleared a bit, just take out the brush so we can have a clear drop in and add in some wooden steps or something to its easy to get up, that would be sick.

Yet I bet a good amount (not putting a percentage since I don't know) buy perfect passes which are in no way cheap. So technically we are making money for the park just indirectly? idk how i could have worded that.

ha Im sure you could speed up the green lift, but I would hate to see the park moved to any other lift besides the blue and maybe green.. whats best about perfects park is the ability to make hot laps. Sure you cant hit ten features in a row, but you can get back on that lift and be at the top again in about 2 minutes.

Season passes make up a small fraction of the amount of money made in a season. You have to take into account lift tickets, rentals, food, loft shop purchases, and tubing, among other things.

Which is pretty ass backwards because Perfects more per capita for season pass holder than they do general public. We are the ones dedicated to Perfect North, yet we are the ones that mean the least to them.


yadda yadda its a business. I dont care either way, just something to think about.

But shinya what are you talking about? No one has ever been mean to me, save for a couple occasions, but that will happen at every hill no matter what you do. I definitely think PNS has a better vibe.

Unless you're talking about staff? But most of the staff is really cool so idk.

take it from somebody who skis both. pns definitly has a better vibe. capital park is sick no doubt and i love skiing there but theres probably less than 10 of us who ski there consistently in the park. its not that bad cause theres some cool guys to to ski with, but there is an overwhelming amount of little middle school shaun white wannabe haters and snakes.

I'm talking about staff. Poodles flat out sucks. And I always get yelled at for skiing sw. Vibe wise, I like most of the people at perfects, with exception to one or two people.

One thing that I would really like to see happen is a feature that is unique and will allow you to test your abilities of thinking freely. Everything that is there now is just kinda regemented and standard if that makes sense.

Poodles is a good dude. If you do something stupid, he's going to yell at you for it. Get to know the guy, don't just make generalizations. Skiing switch into lift lines or in busy areas: not a good idea.

As far as putting the park ahead of other stuff, I think you guys are overestimating the "impact" we have. Yes, we have a lot of people that ride park, but I think that if you were to compare the number of people that buy season passes because they want to ride park and the people that want to ski everything else, the numbers aren't going to be close. We have a big, loyal following for our park, and an awesome vibe, and that's awesome, but the majority is still going to lean towards the people that want to shred runs.

Expanding the park, well that comes down to money and liability. One of the big things with insurance is that our park can only have one entrance, which is why we have the gate now and the ribbons running the length of the park that you aren't supposed to duck. Putting in another gate kinda doesn't work. As for what Scharff said about moving it, no comment...

Yeah i definitely understand what your saying here. And I never ski sw into the lift lines, I was doing it Down deception and got yelled at. Poodles caught me without a lift ticket (although I have a gold pass) completely understandable that I got it banned for 8 days. But when I came back the next week, paid for a lift ticket, and was going inside to eat, poodles made a point to walk over from the lift to where I was taking my skis off to "try" and catch me without a lift ticket again. A little annoying but partially understandable. My only problem was I don't understand why I didn't get like a warning or something. I mean I have a gold pass and I'm limited to 8 hours a day. So maybe I ski for a little longer than 8 hours one day, I don't see it as that big of a deal, but apparently it is. I mean I payed a good 500 dollars for my gold pass and to get it banned for 8 days because I genuinly forgot to get a pass is a little strict to me, but maybe I'm missing something. Oh well better get a perfect pass I suppose...

yeah getting banned for 8 days is more than ridiculous.. and it really does help to make small chat with him while he checks your pass every run, but hes slightly more temperamental than your average folk.

I know everyones putting out suggestions, but does anyone actually want the park to change? Im pretty content with it and how it is on average.. But I really think cleaning out that little bit of woods and making a semi official drop in would be sick..
