Nah, bending brakes does nothing. I bent mine to fit my skis and then they bent out of place and now they are pretty bent out of shape. My bindings still work perfectly.
Check out the thread stickied about ski maintenance, it has a FKS bending tutorial video.
As for your local shop, good luck. Its such a pain in the ass that most techs wont touch it, and I'm sure it would void the warranty, making the tech liable for any damage to the ski or binding resulting from complications. Get friendly with a tech and bring him a rack of PBR before asking, best bet.
I dont think the method in that video works for FKS brakes. the brakes are a lot more difficult to bend. TGR has a good tutorial, its what I used when I started doing it.
Thread Creator, it will probably be a bitch bending your first pair. (putting the damn heel piece back together) but after youve got one down, they get exponentially easier.
watch the videos on how to do them right, and read up, then give it a try.
