Usually if you are not being a douche bag and talk to them politely they will just tell you to leave. If youre being a douchebag or if the cop is a douchebag then Im pretty sure you can get a fine for destroying public property or some bullshit.
^just be really polite. dont try to argue with him because it will get you nowhere. lots of times they dont care. but if they do and they say to clear out or whatever, and you are polite and do as they ask you should have no further troubles.
Yeah. One time I was hitting this really popular rail and did a pretty basic trick that's been done a buncha times before on that same rail, and I got a ticket for $250 and cited for "failure to use searchbar".
just kidding. I had to try to be funny based on that other dudes joke but I failed. Of all the times I've been busted at handrails only once has their been a fine ($282 and criminal trespassing) but it was summer time and we were stepping on... and it was the day time.
Other than that, most cops are chill about it and would love to watch, but have to kick you out.
been to countless spots filming over the past couple years. Cops are usually really chill about it, in the city I live in Milwaukee they roll by and don't say anything usually. Been asked to leave by cops in the suburbs but no fine. Security Guards are usually the worst they come tell you to leave and threaten to call the cops. Seems like sometimes they are just more curious about what you are doing.
if you get talked at be polite. it can make a huuuge difference. i was threatened by criminal mischief once. the cop who was telling us to leave said he arrested some kids skateboarding in a cemetary maybe he was bullshitting.
if your hitting any rails on campus and a cop rolls by hide your ski gear and start having a snowball fight...so far its worked for me they just keep on going with no confrontation
this year the cops showed up almost every time we've gone to hit urban so far, but only been kicked out twice. it seems as though most cops dont care, unless they get a call. if they get a call they have to do something about it.
zero tolerance in summit county. dont know how they got away with the one or two shots early season in edias. i had friends get cameras and boards confiscated last season though
