Dumont in powder?

So im going to utah but i dn't found some powder ski for cheap in any of my local shop, All the ski are like 900$ and up whit the binder. so im wondering if ill be alright whit my Dumont 176cm center mounted ?

people have been skiing powder on skinny skis as long as skis have been around.

Well, compared to a pow ski they will suck, but it should still be fun skiing utah pow..

i'd say just get a cheap used pair, 900 is too much for 99% of skis out there.  roam BST for a bit.

but in all seriousness im going to alta on wednesday and all i have are my anthems, because im young and from the ice coast i dont have anything else. but i think ill be fine

people on this site make it sound like in order to ski powder it is 100% necessary to have hellbents or some other 120mm waist ski.... this isnt true,I have suspects and powder skis and the suspects are obviously worse but it isn't that bad, if you are a fairly strong skier you should be fine.

THAT is a good idea.

Dumonts would be alright, but I would personally rather have my pow skis.

Its not so much the width as the mounting point that makes it difficult.

you can get new hellbents with bindings for $600. i would imagine used would be even cheaper. search around

That's what I was saying too. I ski my 170 watch lifes and 181 pipe cleaners for a few pow runs on park days sometimes and still enjoy it, but being on 202 Lotus 138s does make soft skiing much more fun and he should try to get a used beaten pair of powder skis for a cheap price.

Are you skiing with people on pow skis? If you all have skinny sticks, you won't know a difference because you'll all be in the same boat. If everyone has pow but you, it will be a little disappointing. Anyways,  You should be fine, you just have to lean back.
