Friend in Haiti

My friend is in haiti for a service trip. hotel collapsed. 200 people still missing in it. 100 found...

he checked in to a US embassy so hes okay. i guess he left the hotel jus a few min before the quake.

close call.

one of my friends mom was in the shower in her hotel when it happened, luckily only the top 3 floors collapsed

it's a very fucked situation...Such a fragile environment to begin with being so poor, I don't see how they can possibly recover from this. So many people are going to die from starvation and lack of water/shelter. Such a tragedy.

good to hear about your friend being safe. My family that was there just contacted us. but their home was completely destroyed. Best wishes to anyone involved.

makes me thinks of the tsunami in 2004 in thailand.... many deaths... poor country... but people are donating a lot... that might help them to rebuilt and start all over

i have a grad trip to dominican that i was going to pull out of any way but now that this happened i want to get my 300$ deposit back and i would for sure donate it all to the Red cross relief.
