Bent chetler v. Hellbent

So if I were to be skiing straight deep powder, would I want the hellbent or the bent chetler? I still want to be able to ski some groomers, which kind of makes the hellbent less appealing. But does the bent chetler have enough rocker to be as floaty in the powder as the hellbents are? cuz it seems like they have a lot less rocker. true?

both those skis are POWDER specific skis... thus both will provide amazing flotation

hellbents do have more rocker i believe, and no camber underfoot like the chetlers. Bentchetlers will still be an unbelievable pow ski. I have JJs which are very similar to chetlers, except narrower and they float quite well.

there both great powder skis, both great reviews and plus look at the nimbus guys the guys on the crew ride both skis (chris, pep) What your going to want to consider is the weight and just ride qualities. The helbent is going to be softer and heaver while the bents are going to be stiffer, lighter and poppier

im going to go out on a limb here and say.....you dont need fucking rocker skis to ski powder.

its not like if you dont get hellbents you going to just sink to the ground.

well true you dont have to get a rockered ski as a matter of fact most people (based on their height and weight) dont even need a really fat ski to float. but i mean if its easy to handle why not go for the easier float?

easy there old school... Sure we could all just rock straight cuts and and one piece skin tight suits. The thing with a rockered ski, or even a fatter ski for that matter is it opens up all sorts of new doors and allows you to ski and do things that would not be possible on narrower skis. So you are correct you don't need rocker skis to ski powder, all it does is enhance the experience.

Like I said before, get the Bentchetlers...

Id say Hellbents. K2 makes awesome skis, as I have the Pontoons. Just very sturdy skis, and very beastly.

Atomic Bent Chetler: one size only. 1,83m : 142-123-134mm rocher rocker 20-20. 20mm up flat underfoot (and 20 cm in from the ends of the skis? not sure).
K2 Hellbent: 1,69m (1,75m), 1,79m (1,85m) et 1,89m (1,95m): 150-122-141mm Rocker 20/40 Rocker. The tip and tail are off the snow 20 mm up and 40 cm in from the ends of the ski for maximum float. The ski is flat underfoot with zero camber.
 
Hellbent 1,79m is wider and same lenth. Maybe softer. It means easier to loose floatation overal because it will bent. In 2011, the 132mm will be sick!
When I will get my new Chetlers I will come back with test on snow since I have both skis at these lenths. The 1,69m Hellbent is not so much nice on pow. Going deeper. The tips of the Bent are short and round.

the difference is that the Chetlers fucking rip EVERYTHING. pop rocker + 5 point sidecut = 18m turning radius on a 123mm ski. literally unbelievable.

Was able to get in a great test on my new Chetlers over 2 weeks ago on 42in of Utah fresh at Powder Mountain. Though I have not tried the Helbents the Chetlers owned it. Super playful and easy to control even when ripping through tight aspens. I rode on S7s for the 2008/2009 season and though they are great skis the Chetlers were a bit more fun and seemed to charge a bit harder. From my mounting experience with my S7s I put Scizos on the Chetlers so depending on what im doing or the time of day I can place the binding where i need it. I would defiantly suggest the Chetlers to anyone who can find them or for next season.

As a added note the new 2010/2011 Helbents have a real love it/ hate it graphic and for me the evil clown thing is not working (though the bases are pretty cool), and while the Chetlers new graphic is not as sweet as this years, it is still pretty awesome (plus tie dye base rules). The Bent Chetler's are more versatile and a chargier ski.
They are also practically impossible to find, but I'd choose them.

Those are what's coming to mind right now. Both the Hellbent and Chetler are more jib oriented powder skis.

I just picked up next seasons Bent Chetlers, they look sweet. I really like the graphics too especially the Japanese sun graphic. The tie-die base is cool. I'll be skiing on them on Monday, I'll give it a few days though and I'll get back on here but will probably tweet too -> @tomywithrawcash

Chetlers hold their own on groomers way better than bents..seriously as far as a pow ski goes, chetlers do it all if you want to go anywhere outside of knee deep yet still want a pow ski

Dont be afraid of the hellbents on groomers, they can carve fine, and are actually quite fun. The have a little bit more rocker than the benchetlers, but because they dont have camber underfoot, I would choose them over the benchetlers any day. The bentchetlers are still an awesome ski though. If you want a powder specific tool, look at the moment donner party and the armada args. Surface live life 2s would also be great.

i just skied the 2011 models of both skis. the hellbents were sweet but the chetlers were absolutely amazing. they shredded groomers without a problem. the hellbents were a little sketchy on groomers. since they had no camber they were pretty squirly and chattered like crazy. the chetlers didn't have either of those problems. the chetlers were great in the park too. they had a ton of pop, were super light, and the 2011 model is symmetrical so they were sick switch. i loved them. i didn't ski them in powder but i'm sure they would be dirty. IMO go with the chetlers

How good are the Bent Chetlers in tight trees? So far I've gathered that they're pretty good chargers as well as a backcountry jib ski, but I've only heard one comment on the tree aspect.

Also, How to they compare to the Moment Bibby Pros?

If you are asking for a pow ski, the HellBents own it. The only place I don't like them is icy ice moguls.

if you want somthing thats super rockerd go with the obsethed, next years have so much rocker that the contact point is like 30 cm haha.

and i liked the bentchetlers better on groomers and they were more fun in the park, but the hellbents floated a little better, but there wasnt much of a difference in the pow.

next years hellbent is a lot less chattery on groomers then previous models. if you are really that concerned about groomers i guess the bentchet would be better. but next years hellbent is going to slay the shit out of pow.

Having tried both the Hellbents and EP Pros (I have the EP's) I must say that I prefer the EP Pros in pretty much any conditions. Especially on groomers they are better.

if your a strong skier eps can rock anywhere, they are awsome in POW and u can rip them down groomers even when there is no snow, sure they are supper soft but if your a good skier you should have no problem

That's absolutely true. When the groomers are icy, EP's are certainly no fun. But when the groomers are soft and/or there's like an inch of new snow, the EP's are actually pretty good and really fun to ski. I love the short radius sidecut.

How does the 2011 Line 130 compare to these?  Im guessing less playful but better for hard charging/big lines?  Maybe someone has skied these by now..

Im kind of in the same boat as you, trying to build a new quivver around my Lizzies, in search for a real powder specific ski.   BC and HB's are my top picks for now, since the JJ seems a little too slim overlapping with the lizzies.

Do you like the Elizabeths? Especially the short radius and the soft flex.

If you do, then the EP Pro could be a really good choice. It's pretty much a huge, powder-floating version of the Elizabeth.

I, too, had (and still have) Elizabeths and got the EP Pros as my powder skis. No regrets.

JJs and lizzies aren't  really overlap.  JJs have taper, rocker, are stiff on the cambered section, and aren't just short noodles.  They are wayy better in pow than Lizzies are(I'd rather have JJs pretty much anywhere more than Lizzies).

and OP, those two skis aren't that similar, just buy what fits you better(or just wait till you find a real good deal on either).  Chetlers are popppy and have taper and are stiffer(not that stiff though), with less rocker but without a stupid normal tip at the end of the rocker(well, some extra curve, but it's blended in).

The Betchetler's have a pop rocker with gives it somewhat camber so I think its beter on the groomers then the floppy hellbents.

OP, both are easy on groomers, and I actually think that Bents are more fun on groomers just from being total noodles you can mess around with.  I didn't have much time with Chetlers on groomers though.

Back with a report, next seasons Bent Chetlers rock! I was surprised with how good they were on groomers, they ripped it everywhere. First thing in the morning, afternoon chop, all good. They really carve well, I was totally loving it. Easily stiff enough and not a problem edge to edge, I found them quick to turn which was a pleasant surprise for such a fat ski.

The pop is great too, I didn't take them in the park but a little side country action was definitely a lot of fun. I found it really easy to launch myself, very happy with the amount of pop in the ski and without doubt landing was smooth.

I haven't had much powder to try them in but what I did find was amazing. Get away from the groomers and these skis really come alive. They are really playful, you can loosen them up whenever you like and take them through tight trees or whatever. They float and drive through crud and soft spring snow like I expected, in fact they exceeded my expectations. No problems opening them up, go as fast as you like or take it easy. It's all good.

Riding switch is fine and as I got used to them even better. Best riding switch in soft snow though for sure, lots of fun.

I mounted them slightly forward of the team position (with Salomon STH16 bindings, solid), my thought there was as I mostly ski in Europe I wanted to be sure they performed well in hard conditions. A bit more power to the edges on the steeps and groomers etc. Seems to be working and is not a problem in the soft snow, the rocker sorts that out.

Overall, these skis are awesome! No problem as a quiver of one for me as I don't really hit the park anymore. Too many injuries, my body just can't take it!

Looking forward to my trip home next winter though and hopefully getting some deep BC powder.

i had a clinic last night for atomic skis and the rep said the bent chetler had enough rock to be super floaty in pow but also enough camber so you can get it on edge in the groomers to get back to the lift
