NS I need your help with basic algebra

so this is kinda embarrasing but my math skills are out of practice and I'm doing some accounting homework and can't seem to make this work.  Some help would be greatly appreciated with +Karma

Solve for x

(FC1+(VC1*x))= (FC2+(VC2*x))

I assume that *x means to the x power right?

First thing is are those parenthesis in the actual problem or did you add them? I feel like they aren't really needed for some reason if you know what order you solve things in.

ya those outside brakets are pointless I'm pretty sure.  The * is meant to be a multiplication sign I believe but I'm not sure.  I copy pasted it from the assignment

Never mind it's impossible to do with the info I gave you I figured it out I just had to insert some numbers I already knew into the formula to cancel things out

* = multiply
and FC1, FC2, VC1, VC2 are al constants...

....

FC1 + VC1 * X = FC2 + VC2 * X

FC1 - FC2 = VC2 * X - VC1 * X

FC1 - FC2 = (VC2 - VC1) * X

(FC1 - FC2) / (VC2 -VC1) = X


....

i think this is correct....

Ya I forgot about the whole constant thing.  That never came up in any of my recent classes so this threw me off.  Thanks for the help anyways
