What to use for rail/box?!

okay, so im looking to build a rail or box, i have built a bunch of boxes, and rails already for mybackyard setup with pvc pipe. The only problem that is happened is 1. doesnt stay on super well over time, 2. cracks when you land on it in cold weather. and 3. is a pain to put on/replace. So i am looking for other alternatives for the top of my rails/boxes. i heard one of my friends used that artificial wood stuff that they use for decking and benches thats like recycled shit, except idk how well that would slide with skis or snowboard. So does anyone know about the artificial wood stuff. or any other reccomendations besides pvc pipe, and metal. and stealing benches from my hs baseball fields..

usually you use metal. dont use a park aluminum bench, dont use slidy wood, just use steel or pvc.

oh and build a jib cult

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Plastic its used for cutting boards and such. Wicked expensive but that's what boxes at mountains are made of. You can get it at most lumberyard's but they might have to order it. For rails just use metal tubing.

right now i have a few rails and boxes, some with pvc, some with metal. im also "borrowing" a bench from my hs that i put pvc pieces on to make it slide. but im just asking if there is anything else besides the normal stuff

You don't need anything special you don't need any artificial wood. Go to the home depot pick up some steel. Build the frame out of 2 by 4s, Drill a whole through the steel and screw it to the wood, easy. For a box, different ways to do it, strongest pretty much is screw two 2x 4s to gether or get a 4x4.  screw a 2x4 on each side a couple inches low for your steel to sit. Get the height right first. Then put some hdpe in the middle. Building however high you want. When you have the legs in the middle with 2 x 4s on each side  you'll have pretty sick rigidity. thhrough a few cross braces in. Make some wide feet.  Put ply on the sidfe so you don't catch the legs and to put some pressure on the steel so it doesn't wobble if your screw job wasn't that good.

Wham bam done. Sick box like 6 inches wide.

thats exactly how i built all my other shit, but do u know if u can use the artificial wood, cause we have some left over from the summer from building a bench, and re-doing our neihbors deck

are you using plumbing pvc or electrical pvc? cause i find electrical pvc way more durable.  no problems with it cracking or anything like plumbing.
so if you haven't tried electrical pvc yet i would def give that a try first cause its still mad cheap unlike that other stuff

get a cheap or free crappy snowboard, turn it upside and nail it to some wood. You could use skis too I guess. Not artificial wood but its cheap and works ok.
