Yes I know there have been threads similar but just wanted to share a quick little story. I have mounted about two pairs of skis freehand and am pretty good with it already. The other day I had a problem with a binding so I brought it to my local shop. The shop asked me if I had mounted the bindings myself and I said yeah. A couple minutes later the shop tech comes back out and was like you actually did a really good job for no jig or anything. Then the shop manager was talking to me and was like keep that up and you're going to be working here. So I just got stoked because a while ago I was reading a thread about someone wanting to be a ski tech.
Last but not least, if you want to risk mounting bindings yourself go ahead. But before you do you need to make sure you know what you are doing so you don't mess up your skis. Also remember mounting bindings yourself will void the warantee on the bindings. If you have questions about mounting ask me or someone else on this site, I know there are a bunch of shop techs on here.
*sparknotes* was almost offered job for mounting bindings myself because I did it well.
