first, i am not american
second, i dont wanna offend anyone, really i dont want to
but in the history of the world, NO (i did no research on that, obviously, ;) ) aggression - counteraggression thing worked out. imo, guys that think like that need to stop putting muslims and every other person with a mid-tanned skin in the "terrorist"-drawer. when i think about 9/11, i see A LOT of mistakes from government departments, let alone the minor possibility of involvement in the attacks. sure, there are anti-american and anti-jewish ideologies flowing all over the place in the muslim world (i DID research on that), but again, if you kill someone that killed your brother, friend or whatever, your only as good as him and the circle of hate, aggression and intolerance starts over again.
i know i'll get flamed for this. 9/11 is (i can understand that) a trauma for america. but life has to go on, it cannot be the reason for constantly vilifying fundamentals of the international community.
i respect your attitude towards protecting the country and everything, but theres a small line between patriotism/nationalism/fundamentalism (i am from austria/germany, i know how this can happen, really it has happened before, third reich for example).
when i was in highschool the recurter told me if i were to inlist i could go some where i could ski since there are posts all over the world....something told me he was lying
one of my buddies was told by the army hes have a desk job in switzerland, nows he jumping out of helicopters in the middle east...i wouldnt trust what they say
To all those that join, THANKS!!
I admit, I am done on the millitary, but when I think about it I am not down on those that do the grunt work, but those that are poor and are lied to.
I am down on politicians who have never been on the front line starting shit so big corporations can become richer. People like shrub have made things even worse. The National Guard has always been a great service for what it is (was). Because of shrub people who signed up and were told and expected the guard to be a periphial service to help the US ended up going to war. Now people should never trust that if the go into the guard it will be what it was supposed to.
Also, people that serve see fudged up shit. They come back wrong in the head, and you know what?? IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE CARE OF THEM!! Do we?? No, our government comes up with shit so they dont get the medical care they deserve.
I saw a movie based on a true story, the person who lived in Oregon, and was responsible for a non profit company that got jobs for vets. Has anyone seen this? He enlisted SOLELY to get his GI bill, to get college paid for. He went to war and was a FUKING hero. He was injured and for the rest of his life had a constant ringing in his ears. Pretty fuked up right? But at least the government paid for him to go to college, right? WRONG. They said yeah right, why pay for you, you wont be able to work, you have a constant ringing in your ears.
The reasons I am down on the millitary are all the more reasons to praise those that join, besides the experience they will have (stanind in 120 degree weather with people that live in caves trying to suicide bomb you) our own government will fuk you up.
I hope all those that joing the millitary know this. If you come back with major mental problems, there is a god chance our government will not take care of you. There is a good chance the recruiter will lie there ass off to you and make false promises. I praise all those that join the services. It is alot worse than what we think. The aftermath is fuked up by politicians that did all they could to get out, and then try to use patriotism. It is so fuked up, but those that serve should be honored for not just protecting our country, but also for all the shit politicians put them through. For being lied to by recruiters. For serving soley to have the government pay for college, then when after they get a silver star and purple heart for the heroism they showed, get shafted. For the government not giving these brave soldiers the mental and physical care they need for the hell they have been in.
I think all enlisted military branches offer either a "Set guaranteed job slot" or "Open General slot". Be careful, and make sure you have a guaranteed job after you take the ASVAB test if that's what it's still called.
I've seen to many friends get dicked over with shitty jobs that went in "Open General". Didn't know if this was already mentioned. I was in the Air Force 4years and loved the experience gl.
Like someone said up there. We build and we fight. We're 12 months homeport and 6 forward deployed (on land except for aout 20 people in our 550 person unit) and we generally rotate between pacific and atlantic deployments. Atlantic being all over the middle east. Pacific is all over japan, my detail in Korea, philipines, islands around and in australia, and diego garcia. We're all one batallion but get split up on deployments. For the most part, we're in the action. Building warehouses, schools, rapid runway repair, whole FOBS (camp or Forward Operating Bases for Marines and ourselves). A lot of paving roads in the desert for convoys and the list goes on and on.
Hungover as fuck lmao. Recieving my Seabee Combat Warfare Pin. That's a big deal for some people. Shit was easy.
Just chillin before work.
I'll have to quote V for Vendetta on this one
"I am an idea Mr.Critie, and ideas cannot be killed with bullets". and that is why we will never 'win' the war on terror, and thats why we are never going to end the war on communism. because its a idea, a belife. more then flesh and mind.
But as another tooth in the united states military wheel I do as much as I can when I can, because I belive its the right thing to do.
yes, that is an option but lets pray it never comes to that. ever.
