BINDING HELP!

i have a pair of head(tyrolia) freeflex 17 race bindings that i might have a use for now, the only problem is this strange plate in the middle. my only question is, can i remove it?

you should see how many spare pares of marker/head/fisher/salomon bindings i have laying around. it helps being sponsored ;)
