So im making a box/rail

ive basicly got a plan but what kind of wood should i use? what should i use on top of the rail? and where can i buy it?

well just use norma cedar, cause its cheap and good for teh outdoors.
use plywood for teh side (if you want)
and if you arent using metal, use those really small pvc pipes, but liek 3 together, and screw them on from the bottom
teh best would actually be puckboard (teh slippy plastic), you can buy it from some plastic stores
the rest you can get from any store like home depot, or rona, etc.

basically you can just use normal 2x4s for the frame, and PVC pipes for the sliding surface, but if you want to make a real legit box you should use HDPE as the sliding surface...they sell it at usplastics.com but it's kinda expensive.  If you choose get it, get 1/4" thick and countersink the screw holes when you put it on the box.

i wouldnt use hdpe because someone i know used it and said it cracks and wasnt worth it, use pvc and drill up from the bottom, it really cheap and slides really well.  Also make sure that the middle is supported enough so it doesnt break
