Comments are steadily decresing in the Videos and Pictures section, Please Read

Hi, I've been noticing this certain problem for a little while now and I've decided to finally make a thread about it. Note: this thread focuses mainly on the videos section. I'm not trying to hate on anyone or their vids, or trying to hype up my own edits or pictures at all, I'm just simply making a point that I feel a lot of people on NS may agree with.

We can start with the NS Videos section, which is personally my primary problem since I'm a video maker. I've noticed that through the years the comments on videos have decreased a lot.

Example 1: A ski edit I posted on December 1st of 2007 got 29 comments. A ski edit that I posted a few weeks ago got 5.

This is also true with random people I've clicked on in the videos section. Their older videos, for the most part, have a significantly greater number of comments. Here's an even better example from a person I don't know who's user name is Prophetmatt:

2 videos at the bottom of his profile - one has 18 comments, the other has 23. Both posted in 2005. A ski edit he posted in 2006 has 18 comments. His two newest videos posted very recently in 2009 have 1 comment and 5 comments.

You could argue that people have been visiting his profile videos at times after the videos left the front page, but I really don't think this happens very much.

You could also say that I'm choosing videos with a lot of comments to make my point, that is somewhat true, but it's showing the potential that NS had in the past compared to now.

Final points about the videos section are as follows. I feel like nowadays, the pro edits and very good am rider edits are somewhat taking over. I hope I'm right when I say 3, 4, 5, years ago and beyond, people didn't strictly watch pro and very good am rider edits. This thread isn't to bag on those edits at all, I love watching every Wallisch, Brogan, edit etc etc, every Clown School, Junction 133 edit, etc. etc. They make my day and tons of effort are put in to them, I know. But like myself, I believe unknown kids these days are making edits not only for fun but for comments too. Especially kids that are very, very, very good and aren't known around NS at all.

And to quickly touch on the subject of the Pictures section. I was just browsing around it and it seems to be very dead. Photographers are probably very unhappy with this. I guess all the stuff I posted above somewhat goes for the Pictures section too.

So now I'm done typing all of that, and I hope something is taken into serious consideration to get comments and views flowing through the videos and pictures section again. I don't know a person who doesn't love comments on their vids and pics. To fix this, perhaps there could be a big sign on the front page that encourages people to visit these sections? Or some text that added to all people's pages that their video is on, in a colorful text, that encourages comments? Or maybe a we could have a separate videos section for clips, aka a videos sections that would have videos like "My first cork 7", or "Tramp shot", or "A couple HV30 test shots". Like the stuff without music and real editing I guess.
