As long as your skiing, and having fun with it, your doing "real skiing".

Weather that be in the park, on groomers, in the middle of some big city or on a huge ass mountain, yeah even skiracing or crosscountry, that´s real skiing.

im so fucking sick of hearing poeple, and now tanner, say that if you dont ski powder and big mountain your not a skiier. fuck skiing is about having fun, and if you have fun hitting a rail, slashing powder, hitting booters, ripping zipper lines or smashing gates on a rac course then fucking do it! have fun how you have fun and dont judge other people how they have fun.

Hey, I think that you all forgot something : Tanner speaks about "real skiing" as skiing powder, without any  pre-defined lines and prepared slopes ... just remember that THAT was the beginnings of skiing, even racing was like "start point" and "end point" and well, just be the fastest down ! The first jumps have been made over cliffs, and over naturally shaped jumps ... I think that's what he meant "back to the roots" dudes. I agree on the ideas, not really on the form he put on it, I think there's no need to criticize lots of skiers who are just having fun like that, but I also think everyone has to remember of where their sport comes from !

i think he just wanted to say that skiing is not only shreddin park. You add some weed en Genepi and you have Tanner's interview. i don't know if he is friend with, West, Dumont or Olenick, but personally I do not apreciate if I was Dumont.

Well, i guess it speaks volumes that he deleted it now, woopsy!

I think we can write it off as an drunken/high rant, i think we've all been there. I don't agree with what he says, i don't belive there's any part of skiing that is more "real" than any other, but we've all talked bullshit, and said not so well thought through things at one point, so it's all good. Tanner is an icon, and his skiing is dope as hell, and like someone else said, it's kinda refreshing with someone just ranting on, all stoked and high!

For some reason i think that if he'd been at a rail jam, and someone stomped some crazy shit, he'd be equally as stoked, he's just a stoked guy!

To all the people taking this as a stamp of approval that big mountain skiing is "real" skiing, and better than other forms of skiing, way to over interpret, i guess Tanner's statements helped you sooth some sort of underlying insecurity about your skiing. That's all good as well, i'm gonna go hit a rail now, and do some REAL skiing!

Drop Jon?  I don't think so.  Jon actually rips big mountains.  He also has a chance to be a Swedish Olympian in 2014.  He is exactly the sort of skier we need.  Tom Wallisch should be dropped before Jon.  I guarantee that if you took a poll on TGR Jon would come out ahead of T Wall.

As far as skiing goes....Whatever floats your boat.  I will say,however, that I don't know anyone who can rip the mountain who would rather ski park.

Tanner just put together one of the best pipe edits I've ever seen, in Everyday is a Saturday. Now the man with 3 X-games pipe wins in a row and a skiing career pretty much built off of pipe skiing goes and tells us that pipe skiing is for roller bladers? Considering he has some pretty good connections with the rasta world, I wanna get my hands on whatever he's been smoking.

judging by what people have been saying, it probably should be deleted, and his apology is at least sincere.

Ya cause out hear in Western New York hitting a maximum of 3 inches of pow a year that really is just sitting on hard-pack and icy ass runs and huge ass lift lines that takes longer to get up the hill then to get down the hill is so much more fun and real than the park. I mean what do u expect? Of course im gonna be in the park.

Tanner who gives a shit about what people ski. u ski what u want and i ski what i want. doesn't affect anyone but me
