so i ski at Winter Park CO and to get into the largest part of the park you need a pass. its $20 and watch a 15 min movie the first time, every year after that its $10 and you dont need to watch the movie. Its really nice tho because there are never any newbs in the park and it just makes it a much nicer environment. My question is, are there any other parks that do this???
every mountain should have a park pass. the mountain near my home does this. the only problem is that some gapers buy it just so that they have an extra run to take
at that ski area can you buy it at the lift ticket office???? when they cant just get it at the left ticket place and you make them watch a movie, 99% of the gapers just say fuck it.
my mountain doesn't do this but they had something like this when i went to stratton and it was such a good idea. It was free at stratton though, they just made you watch a movie and then they gave you a pass to go. The park was free of "gapers" and tons of fun.
i think its a great idea apart from maybe the expense part, 20 bucks is a bit much. 5 bucks is more reasonable. I think it would make the park a lot safer and more fun
i support this idea so much, my mountain has a "big" park and a "mini" park, and they should have a park pass to the big park, for like $10 a day or like $30 on top of your season pass for the whole season. our big park is right under the lift, and right next to several green trails, so its pretty much too crowded with gapers to even just ride down the park without hitting any features, if you try to go in the jump or rail line, you are fucked, because there are little kids and their moms fucking everywhere, putting the park there was the worst decision in mountain planning fucking history. gapers get hurt all the fucking time, because they ride right into the front of the rails that have gaps onto them, and undershoot the jumps so bad. all the lips get fucked up in 5-10 minutes after being groomed, from the sheer amount of traffic of people doing pizzas and snowplows over them, and the kickers to rails are always all crushed and fucked up from kids jumping off the sides. they would have to employ like 1/3 as many park crew members to maintain the park if they had a park pass, and it would save them money of insurance, and be less of a hassle or worry for ski patrol. the mountain could also make more money from the sale of park passes. and lose less money from the gapers who break their legs who wont be buying passes there again.
