this is more of a suggestion... i feel that anyone who posts up, or provides links to pirated ski movies, should be banned from the site. i never suggest anything like this cause honestly i dont give a fuck what people do, but this has gotta stop. just saw part of slamina recently posted in the video section and the description on youtube is a direct link to DL the movie. support the flim makers so they can continue to provide you with entertainment.

i dont see that being any different than posting links of entire albums on torrent or media share...

i agree with you though. but also disagree, i dont think it should be NS's responsibility to do that. The people who work for these ski companies are on here, and if they want they should do something about it. all we should do is maybe bring it to their attention.

its different because this is a ski site. its kind of weird seeing a ski site indirectly supporting pirating ski movies by allowing the content on the site. people think that the ones making these movies are making a huge amount off of the films but in reality, they aren't.

downloading music made by an artist who is rolling in the benjamins, with 5 cars is fine, he isnt hurtin.  But to steal from a amateur or pro film company that really doesnt make much money is wrong.  They make movies that are viewed pretty much specifically for this community, they have such a small revenue base that pirating could not only be hurtful to them, but also this community

on a personal level i sort of agree with you. i mean, its not gonna hurt lil wayne if i download "a milli" or something. however, as has been said, stealing is stealing no matter who its from.

but about the big artists and film makers, i say fuck them, free for all
its robin hood, steal from the rich, give to the poor. fuck all these rap stars with amazing houses and amazing cars and girls and shit. they live the life while some people cant even get through the day. i think we can take all we want from them, especially if, instead of buying a big name album for $15, you buy a small no name album for $15. and torrent the big one

my thoughts: i don't think watching just one or two parts of a movie online is bad, it can almost work as a teaser for the movie if you really like the part you see.  but downloading a whole movie online is wrong, especially if it's from a small company.  That being said, i must admit to downloading all my music for free.  i simply can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars on songs that i might lose interest in in a matter of weeks

haha a lot of hypocrites in this thread. Its ok to steal from someone richer than you are because they are rich and we all know rich = ass hole.

It is a little different with ski movies I guess, they are never in theaters really and cant go on tour to make profit. Oh the morality of digital media.

technically, if I download something online, im not depriving anyone of any property so im not stealing by definition. Plus the vast majority of downloads dont equate to a lost sale. I dont know about you guys but there is not way I would actually buy 99% of the music I download.

I agree with it for the most part...

but i think people should be allowed to maybe post a single segment out of a movie for an example in a thread or something. Of course not a full length movie, but like a 2 minute clip to demonstrate a point or something.

though i will admit, i was grateful that someone posted the McConkey tribute segment this year, as i was unable to get that movie and really wanted to see it.

I know pirating is wrong but it was after watching a pirate version of reasons i got into ski movies, since then ive brought EDIS and refresh which i never would of otherwise

I agree with skiierman- plus i like the dvds because of the better picture and audio - especially when you upscale them- although i was glad about msp in deep on blu-ray- finally some actualy good looking film

I understand why posting up this years movies is really hurtful but if a movie is older I think it shouldn't be as big of a deal since it isn't really keeping anyone from buying that movie, if anything it is getting people stoked on the next one to come out. If someone posted all of so far so hood on youtube that would be fucked up because there are still a lot of people who might buy it.

I downloaded EDIAS... but I also own it. The download was just so I could have it on my computer and zune so I can watch it anywhere. I was too lazy to find a good program and rip it myself.

If this site wasn't a bunch of 12 year olds, I bet their would actually  be a creative reply.  Like someone posting as a pirate, with a pirate name, and a avatar of a pirate with a parakeet on his shoulder.  He would post "what be hating on pirates?" and (this is important) would post a movie of a pirate skiing.  I would of done it but I dont have a picture of a pirate skiing, nor a video camero to make one.

dude support the industry cuz in a bad economy if u dont support these companies and small ski shops especially they are gonna close down and i know ur thinkin whats $20 gonna make a difference but multiply that by 1000 and u got 20 grand. so yea go buy ski movies

I NEVER EVER torrent ski footage. In my opinion its stealing from the filmmakers. Josh Berman, Dakoulas, Martini's, and MANY MANY others work their asses off to make the film, and then fucking retarded people post the torrent links up. If you cant afford to buy the movie, don't torrent it, think of alternative ways such as BST.

However, music is a whole another story, the music makers for the most part are very wealthy and a dollar won't do them anything.
