I hate to add to the already over saturation of fulltilts on this site, but i have seen this go on for too long.

kids need to realize that full tilts are not the best boot money can buy. now, that being said, for people with the proper foot, they MIGHT be a top choice for them, but for someone like me with a wide, thick foot, they simply would not work.

there is no single boot that is better or worse than any other boot...however, there are boots that are better SUITED for any given skier, when speaking in terms of flex, shell last, shell fit, liner fit, etc, etc etc.

i need all the ns bootfitters to back me on this, cause its getting out of hand.

I've seen so many kids with wide feet squeezing into FT's, and telling themsleves that they fit, only to be miserable and in pain on the slopes.

because all of their favorite pros are wearing them and kids on here swear they heal and prevent shin bang.

i completely agree with the OP, but we have to realize who were talking about here. it's very dfifficult to change the opinion of a bunch of teenagers who think they know more than bootfitters do because they can read threads on NS.

Honestly go get fitted by a shop kids, because i guarantee you'll go in there thinking "wow i want full tilts or this or that" and what you're expecting to get that will look cool on your feet will not be the boot for you. My shop fitted me for boots and since day 1 the perfect boot for my has always been Dalbello. Warmth, flex, lightweight, and comfortable, made in the same place as fulltilt (italy), just not the name. YOU DON'T CHOOSE THE BOOT KIDS! THE BOOT CHOOSES YOU!

it all just depends. i have super wide feet and i have spk's and love them. my friend has i guess normal feet and hotdoggers, he hated them for a month but took them to the shop and they banged out some spots and they are now the best boot he has ever skied. so the ft's require some extra effort to break in but i heard its worth it.

bumping the boot is the last thing you want to do, when you bump the boots shell you completely change the flex pattern and the integrity of the boot as a whole. this is why buying a boot that fits is so important.

i just feel bad for the kids skiing with sore feet all day lol

i tried on MANY boots and full tilts were the boots that fit me the best, by far. moral of the story, whatever boot that fits is going to be the boot that YOU will love, which is what matters the most

With the right fitting I think you can get any boot to at least feel okay, but with that being said there is definitely not one perfect boot out there, full tilts are cool, but when you think about it, there really just the hamburger helper of ski boots.

To anyone who thinks Full Tilts will solve all your shinbang problems you are sadly mistaken. I have friends who bought Full Tilts without getting fitted and they have the worst shinbang they've ever had, even with a Intution Liner...

I have a metal plate in my leg alongside the side of my ankle, it took me over a month and 50 pairs of boots trying them on until i found a comfortable boot. i worked at a ski shop so this was easy for me. they are older salomon's with a real real soft flex. i even ski them on walk. I love em. i paid 250 for em originally 375.

when i fit people with boots i made it clear to them, do no care about the price tag. care about your feet. if your feet hurt on the mountain your whole day is shot. if the boot is 150 or 450 it doesnt matter, take care of your feet. chances are you'll wear this boot for a few years anyways.

and OMG the amount of stupid parents with their kids telling me they are 10 and they measure a 7.5. Parents got mad at me for not putting their kids in a boot 2 sizes to big claiming that was their size OR "so they grow into them". its like beating a dead horse, parents just dont get it. then i'd give them a size too big and they would come back a week later bitching about their kids crying about their feet, and all i can do is smile and say "ok lets find something that fits" and really want to punch them right in the teeth.

it got to the point were i'd have to lie about sizing and just ask the kid if they felt comfortable then if the parents asked the size i'd say it in euro (ie 25.5) just so they had no idea

LOL, i know my argument is goofy since it concerns only people other than myself, but as a boot fitter its just frustrating to see people make such ludicrous claims about it being the be all, end all, of boots.

Full Tilts are awesome.  SPKs are awesome.  Nordica Dobermann WC 150s are awesome.  ONLY buy what fits YOU.  Just don't get caught in up in the hype.  A ski boot is just a hunk of plastic; make sure to buy the correct one that fits your foot shape, your flexibility, how much you weigh, and take into consideration what you are used to and you will have the raddest boot ever.

Heres my fulltilt story...

I was very curious to see how these boots were, so one day I headed to my nearest fulltilt dealer in CT. I said I was interested in them and wanted to know if they fit my foot well, because if they did, they should be great boots. I slipped them on and went through the whole baking/measuring/walking around in them process. At the end they felt like a slipper and I loved them. I walked out of the store a happy camper, and now 20 days into my season without any pain whatsoever I can honestly say these are the best boots I've ever owned and will be sticking with fulltilt for a very long time. The hype is justified- These boots are sick, it's just idiots that order them online and don't get them fitted that complain.

Because they basically take the same boot and make like 8 different varieties out of it by making pretty small changes to the boot, not to knock them though because its a pretty genius marketing scheme

I agree only reason I got fulltilts was cause I got a great deal on a pair of last years booters abd they fit me perfectly feel like a slippers on my feet

when parents do this with their kids, or when im selling them something and they do this, i basically say fuck it and sell them the most expensive item i can get away with. i'll feed them the info and if they want to make all the decisions and think they know what's best, so be it...

I do have hotdoggers although they weren't my first choice of boots
i know they say don't look at the price tag of boots but i just didn't have $700 to spend on nordica or head boots and i could get a deal for FT at $350
They were bit awkward at first that's why it was my 3rd choice but after the mold it felt awesome
and to all those people who think FTs actually perform better... they are like any other boots if they fit you right it would do the exact same as any other boots that fit you.
I remember while i was getting fitted this girl was just trying so hard to get into FTs and the fitter asked her why she wanted one so badly and she said simply cause all her friends had it and she heard good stuff about them. She was like 25... i thought she would know better lol.
The fitter came to me and while doing my boots he told me that he had bunch of ppl this season trying to get into FTs with impossible feet for them.

Unabashedly and  completely unrelated, has that Dalbello Virus boot been released yet?  You know, the AT boot Plakes been sporting as of late?

YEA OUR BIGGEST JUMP OVER HERE IS LIKE 25 FT! only a few ppl hit it tho cuz its soooooooo big. i hope u were kidding. have u been to mount snow? where they held a dew tour event and had an 80 ft booter.

hes abs correct. but also u have to give the FT liners to pack out as in all boots. i love my full tilts though. idc who wears them or anything like that. they r really confortable, but like he said they dont fit everyone

it doesnt mess the flex pattern as much as you think. i race and almost all racers have race boots that have been bumped or modified by a bootfitter in some way

I have full tilts i wasn't really a bandwagon kid there like a 3 year old model. Regardless they fit my skinny foot, but my cousin dies in his with his fat foot. Moral of my terrible post i back the orginal thread.

Pretty much exactly what I did.  I had a pair of Dalbellos, but I ended up getting a lot of shin bang with them.  Dalbello boots are geared towards people with narrow feet, and I knew Full Tilt boots were too.  So I went to my nearest boot fitter that had Full Tilt boots in stock.  Tried them on, they fit, and I loved them.  I walked out and ordered a pair of Booters online and I haven't had any problems with my feet or any shin bang since then.  Thanks Full Tilt!

My fulltilt story:

so last year(08/09) i went to my local shop's "snow dayz" sale, and tried on a bunch of boots, and out of everything they had(no full tilts) and ended up getting a pair of spk pros. they were great for the first month, and then the liner packed out and the boots went from amazing to hell in boot form, my foot was bouncing around in them and my toes were slamming into the front causing the lose of 2 nails. i put up woth it through the rest of the season as i could not afford new boots and was not gonna ask my parents to lend me the money for new ones.

fast forward to this season, same problems as last, same boots. i was lucky enough to go up to whistler on december 27th with my dad, and since i didnt ski only park i was in constant pain, so i finaly said fuck this and told my dad i needed new boots and asked if he would pay for half, he agreed since he could see how much pain i was in, so on the drive back down to central washington(where i live) we stopped by evo gear in seattle, I was fitted by Tom Moreno(ast. store manager, if you see this, thank you so much once again) for 5 hours, tried on everything from lange to salomon, to darbello, ect. and then i slid a pair of Seth Pros on. One issue i had with most of the other boots is, i have a very high instep, causing the other boots to push down on it and making my feet fall asleep, i did not experience this at all with the seths(due to the lack of a true "top" of the shell). So i wore them around for about 45 min, marked 2 little spots tht needed to be ground out a tiny bit, and pulled the trigger on them+custom foot beds.

Now after 8 days on them, i can safely say that these are, undoubtedly the greatest boots i have ever had on my feet, they are so light, yet so warm and responsive(raced for 9 years so im all about performance boots), and the flex(10 tongue) is PERFECT for my style of riding. So i'd just like to say, thanks full tilt for making the greatest boot i have ever owned and the only boot i ever will want to use!

its sooo annoying when i measure a kids foot, and the parents ask me what size, ill tell them like an or something and they will be like "oh no thats too small, he wears a size 10". thats when u have to physically show the parent where their kid measures on the foot chart, and just tell them shoe sizes and ski boot sizing is different. Yes it gets annoying, but it shuts the parents up.

$5 ski swap langes from around 2000 (i think). flexible enough for park. i just tighten them down and dont get shinbang. kinda heavy but whatever fuck it. only improvement with FTs for me would be in weight

I don't really think that this is true. My Dalbello Krypton Pros got bumped last season, so I have like 90 days on them, and there is no change in flex, and no shell compromise. They fit me perfectly in almost every way when I bought them, heel retention, calf, flex, warmth, but the way my foot is shaped I need to bump right behind my toes, around the front ball. My tech that fitted me had me try on like 20 pairs of boots, and those fit the best, he just had to make that adjustment.

after reading this thread im skeptical about getting full tilts
obviously, the boots gotta fit right. but im getting new boots soon and ive been looking at trying on some full tilts because i am absolute shit at skiing and shin bang is a huge problem. and full tilts seem to be the goto boots for shin bang

all i hear is full tilts and spk's. spk's fit like shit to my foot, way too wide. what else is going to be good for shin bang if full tilts dont end up fitting me right?
help me out boys, i dont know shit about anything when it comes to skiing, so cut me a break if this all sounds completely stupid.
