Is X Games Big Air text-to-win this year ?

This year they got 10 athletes invited instead of 4 so I guess the text to win format we all hate would not work.
A real big air comp like back in the days would be damn sick !

Just noticed that Hunder isn't invited... He finished second last year and destroyed the big air comp scene last year before his injury.

Simply because the voting is mostly made by people who don't know shit about skiing except maybe for Dumont/Hall 's name. So last year Hunder got robbed by a dub front over a sw dub 12. And to make sure that they get more votes, ESPN let people vote at any moment, before, during or after somebody's run. How can you vote on a trick that has not yet been thrown and how can you compare if the other guy didn't go yet?

Face it guys. ESPN does the whole X-Games thing for one reason. Cuz they like bits of paper with dead presidents on them. Millions of n00bs voting via SMS means more cashing-gading-gading-ding.

I know all this, and completely agree with you, but you said that because there's 10 athletes this year, it won't work, i don't get that? The voting system is complete bull shit, but i don't see the organizers changing it because there's 10 athletes, they will probably still use it, im afraid. It will work just as good (i.e bad!) as last year!

As sick as tom is i don't think he deserves the big air spot he did pretty bad this year at big air someone like Henrik deserves it more.

the only way people will be happy is if theres a thread on here and everyone posts scores as they watch it live on a web feed. then all the scores are taken into account.

God i hope they have judges this year, and pleeeeeeaaase build a big jump so everyone doesn't have to spin like hell to throw double 10s nosemute/double mute. Rather make it huge so people can (try to) throw slow and steezy sw dub 12s like PKs.

those wondering why henrik isnt in, its most likely because of his results in other comps. wallisch placed 1st in at least one dew tour last year. X-games is all about other comp results to get invited into it.

i don't remember henrik placing really high in any big U.S. comps last year.

Come on, read my post more carefully. I'm saying that the text voting is complete bullshit, but logistically and from the view of the organizers it works perfectly.

i say they should get all the competitors to wear exactly the same suit and just give them numbers instead of their names so that they only get judged on the trick. that would be a fair text-to-vote comp

Yeah exactly, my friends keep telling me about the sick as fuck superman double frontflip dumont threw, and then I'm like yeah but the other dude threw double flip 12's, and they say yeah but double SUPERMAN frontflip is sooo sick must be so hard to do!
