So NS i have to write a research paper and create and argument of some sort. This paper has to be about something in Africa (I take African History.) Usually I dont have a problem coming up with arguments as im pretty opinionated but, im so sick of this continent i have no opinions about anything thats going on there only because im not intelligent enough to even think about solving any of its countless problems.

If anyone can throw down some interesting/ easy topics about Africa it would be most appreciated. ANYTHING but, Darfur, Poaching, or Apartheid.

"Between 2000 and 2005, the fatal unintentional drowning rate for African Americans across all ages was 1.3 times that of whites"

and when you really think about it, wayyyyyy more white people are put in situations where strong swimming skills are necessary such as beach vacations. so the fact that drowning rates are still higher among black individuals is quite amazing evedence that they just cant swim.

Along the same lines: (I forgot what your assignment was)

How different would Africa be today if it was not colonized by Europe? Languages, customs, religions - alot are European.

Better yet, why did Africa not end up like other European colonies (North America, Australia)? These former colonies are now some of the core countries in the world, yet African nations are still years behind. Racism, perhaps?

I was actually thinking about this but, we did an entire unit on colonialism so it would probably not go over so well unfortunately although it is very interesting. Africa is behind mostly due to the fact that they have few marketable resources and colonialism left somewhat of an inferiority complex on the continent.

That would actually be a good topic for a research paper.  Of course a research paper requires academic sources and people here, while some are very talented and creative, a creative paper with no sources is going to get you a F.  Who needs skool anyways???  Just spend your life smoking the Mary Jane!
