some of the show is fake, but the advice is real. just because he doesnt always stay in the shelter he builds does not mean that in a survival situation it would not work

i always imagine what it would be like to be walking through the woods one day, and see a man jump into a frozen lake naked, proceed to get out and do naked jumping jacks, all while being filmed by a camera crew. thatd be pretty funny

he starts with things that make sense for people travelling in that area. he survives doing the bear minimum, whereal grylls does all sorts of crazy bullshit that you'd never really have to do in a true survival situation... hes just a guy whos willing to do gross shit basically.

but seriously, les eats stuff, will hate the taste, and stop eating it. he is not willing to eat anything raw and luckily he always has his 3 matches. whereas bear shows you how to live with nothing. if you get lost, and try to survive off a show where a guy used matches, and you have none, then your fucked. bear can make a fire with literally anything, his knowledge is far superior to les, and knows a lot more about his surroundings.

les has made fires without matches plenty of times... he does what he needs to survive, and nothing more. if you had to survive for 7 days, thats exactly what you do. grylls may do legit stuff, but its not real, so it just isnt the same. he isnt under any danger or anything like that.

He does THE DUMBEST FUCKING THINGS!!!!!!!!!
He goes into a fucking mine shaft saying how dangerous it is. The oxygen level gets too low and his torch goes out. He's talking about how he could fall down a hole and die. He does such unnecessary things that would get you killed because you're not an ex-british forces guy or whatever he is.

Les is much better at surviving and has much better advice.

bear takes unnecessary risks.  survivorman plays it pretty safe. maybe to the point of monotony for some viewers.

kids whose idea of camping is to drive to your site with beer tend to prefer the more add friendly bear gryls, where as people who have actually completed a 1mile+ portage in their life with full gear and a canoe appreciate survivorman more.

hence why i like survivorman.

Yah agreed...Survivor man has some new show that shows how the people on "I shouldn't be alive" could of survived better and it has some really nice survival tips and I dunno Les is way more legit with actually surviving Bear is just a nut.

2 completely different shows...

les tells you how to survive for awhile, and avoid bad situations.
bear tells you how to survive should you find yourself in one of those bad situations.

I like man vs wild more because i like bear more, and after a few minutes, i get sick of hearing les complaining. And i dislike the way survivorman always has those episodes where he builds a shelter, gets equipment, then says "we'll just hunker down here for a few days."

Plus i find it somewhat stupid whenever i see a long range shot of les walking across a field. Because you know he had to walk out there, place the camera, walk across screen, then walk all the way back and get it


and in any case, escape to the legion was better than both of them. And i don't think les would have made it through that.

grylls just drives somewhere, gets out of a car and walks 5 minutes into the forrest or whatever, pretends to need to survive and does something ridiculous and goes somewhere else. sure the stuff he does is cool, but its fake and unnecessary... which ruins it for me.

best part is he blames the moving of the reindeer to reflexes, but its obviouslt still alive and he bleeds it to death lol, cut right into the jugular.  but don't worry its strictly just "reflexes" lol

les goes into the wilderness and starves himself for a week... he drinks stagnant and possibly disease carrying water and is nowhere near as skilled as bear

bear may be a phony, but if there was a survival competition between the two, bear would last 40x longer. les would die due to starvation and the fact that he is nowhere near as in shape or prepared to endure the elements as bear

haft the stuff he does if you took the chance to do in the wild you would be dead within 2 days! he doesn't have to carry 6 cameras around. Walk back to grab them after filming a shot then keep carrying them and going on. I see this guy get his camera crew for light.

Les= Much more knowledgeable, however kind of a pussy
Bear- Very knowledgeable but not down to a science like Les...His lack of fear, agility ascending/descending just about anything, and his british S.A.S. training makes him the real survivorman
