I wanted to create this thread so that everyone can share their experiences, prevention tips and what to do if the worst happens – you walk out of a lodge and your stuff has gone – what do you do first? Who do you speak to?
Anyone have any good information on insurance policies, police experiences, resort staff experiences, locks, storage etc… the obvious is always splitting ski’s and locks etc etc. I personally also put a few stickers, unique die cuts etc on my ski’s… anything to make them harder to sell on, easier to identify as mine.
What new technology is there out there regarding this? How many of you have your serial numbers written down?
Finally, let’s try and generate some kind of data base as to hills that this seems to be happening at most…. Summit County seems bad at the minute according to reports I hear. Resorts need to also be acting on this – who is going to want to ride at a hill with a bad theft problem and limited security. So if this has happened to you, post up when, where and what was stolen.
It’s a sad day when this needs to be discussed, but as a big ski community, together we should stand up against this sh*t and make it harder for the scum that do this to get away with it. I know it’s a tall order, but this is at least a start.
