Black Sheep Thread

Hey NS, I have alot of time on my hands and recently I mentioned a family member at the dinner table and an awkward silence fell. So I was wondering who is the black sheep of your family ?

I mean like the family member your parents don't talk about or the guy who everyone forgets to invite at the Christmas party. Could be an Uncle or a Cousin or whatever. And more then one.

Mine :
-Its' a cousin named Benni who is sitting in jail for car jacking and has a swastika tattooed on his wrist and back.

im the NS black sheep, im in college, i have good grades, i dont smoke weed, i have a job, i am as republican as it gets, im not an embarrassment to my parents, and im over 15. basically, im not a waste of life like 90% of NS

on my mom's side of the family my aunt is schizophrenic but everyone is really understanding about it, and we can all talk openly about mental health issues and other problems.
in my stepmom's family there are THINGS they don't talk about, like my stepmom's mother's alzheimers disease, my stepsister's lying and debt and her fiance whom no one likes... that is a family that hardly talks about anything uneasy. the topic is always neutral or positive, or geared away from the family.

so in a nutshell, no black sheep really.

i am, my dad hates the fact that im not some big football player. my mom cryed when i told her i want to go to school for graphic design. and of course they dont like my bright colored baggy clothing.

he's a douche bag because he is trying to put down "90% of NS" when he doesn't have the slightest idea who he is talking about, and is trying to make himself feel better.


The black sheep is my family is some second or third cousin of my mom's who tried to steal money from my great aunt i think.

I feel a little weird sharing this but anyone ever heard of the "Downtown Eastside"? It's the part of Vancouver that people try not to talk about, essentially it's home to one of the biggest heroin problems in the world. That's where my dad suspects his sister is currently living, as that was her last known residence. Our family hasn't heard from her in about 10 years, hell I didn't even know my dad had a sister until about 5 years ago.

My 2nd cousin (my mom's cousin) just got out of prison after 30 years for murdering his wife. And after he got out, he went to a silent auction for my great grandma's stuff after she died, and bought a bunch of family heirlooms, and is now selling them on ebay and craigslist and stuff and making money from them. The family don't talk about him much.

Basically anyone on my dad's part of the family. He loves talking about them, but no one in my family ever wants to because they're all really weird, live in california, and are huge hippies.

my entire extended family of 30+ people are all very healthy, in shape, activity-loving people except for 1 fat cousin who's 40 years old and never had a job in his life and about 75 pounds overweight and growing. he sticks out like a sore thumb but he won't do anything to get skinnier or get a job so he just pisses everyone off

My uncle used to gamble alot, he asked my granddad for money he refused and because of this he moved to the South of Portugal the Algarve to work as a waiter I havn't seen him since I was 2 or 3 and my family hasn't really heard from him either.

my aunt is kindof a black sheep... she always comes to family events and goes crazy and flips out something like "chris put almonds in the pie!! everyone KNOWS i hate almonds!!!"
then smashes something, and leaves... so she doesnt get invited much anymore. shes really a good person at heart, i just think she gets worked up over little shit once in awhile.

familys are wierd.

Yup, it's one very dark, tragic spot in one of the greatest cities in the world. The blocks of Hastings St. around Main are pretty creepy. Heroin addicts, the mentally ill, and an HIV infection rate at 30 %, and yes, good people who somehow fell through the cracks.

My dad's sister who lives across the country. We don't talk to her whole family and all I know is that it's something that happened when they were younger. Their family sends us presents for birthdays and holidays but my dad is always hesitant to return the favor. Regardless my sister and I have been trying to talk to their children via Facebook because we have such a small amount of family anyway. They seem pretty cool and very much like my family. Maybe one day I'll find out what happened.

dad's catholic and your mom is protestant?

probably one of my older cousins, my family likes to be perfect, and one's a ski bum out in Jackson hole which is super cool, the other one is kind parties hard in college and they think thats lame.

On my dad's side, it my family, because we don't live in upstate NY and my dad worked his ass off in school where as his bro's and sis's didn't, and so he made it and they didn't.

Damn you beat me too it lol. But as far as my family goes im the black sheep, both my brothers are enrolled at Oregon state and are graduting with honors one from HS and the other will be starting off at intel as soon as he finishes his spring term, while i get in trouble for smoking and I am going to a community college so i can ski.

It's also all relative-

Buddy of mine, who has a Brown U. MD, PhD from UC, told me that he was the 'dumb' one of the family, at least compared to his older brother, Harvard MD and med school faculty, and runs a software company on the side.

Geez. I think I'm now inadequate.
