Write down your GoPro HD editing system!=)

Would be cool if people that use the goPro HD could write down which software they use to edit the HD footage and on what system(pc/mac). Pluss experiences with the differnet systems you might have tried.

I thought this could be helpfull for new users and others who have trouble with it=)

My setup: Macbook 13", imovie 09 which import the files without converting needed, great! I also use FCP 7, but then I need to use Apple Compressor to convert the MP4 files. If I want slowmotion from the 60fps setting I use Apple CInema Tools to make this happen, also incl. in FCP 7.

So there is it, what I use and what I think works good :P

BTW, do everybody here use Cinema Tools to get the 60fps down to 30fps to get slowmotion?

Is the only thing Ive heard that works, but if anyone have experience with other softwares or methods I would love to hear about them!

i use Sony Vegas Pro 9.0c and i set my playback fps with a slider bar in sony vegas pro itself ...
^^this program will do everything you dream of !

I use Sony Vegas Pro 9.0 on my PC. Its super nice because its compatible with MP4 so you don't have to worry about converting it or anything. Plus you can get it for free, just follow this video that shows you how http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJxZH19hpjE

Final cut Pro 7 for mac is pretty epic and can definately compare to vegas...
^^just saying; if i had a mac i'd get FCP ...

So i assume you have vegas...
and you've made a little edit...
and now you wanna save it in an Mpeg or something to watch it on mediaplayer...


Go to FILE
-> RENDER AS ....
-> select whatever you want it to be exported as (choose your quality, dimensions, filetype, codec, whatever... and select where you want it to be saved
-> CLICK OK
now wait till the project is rendered (can take a while)

voila: go to the files location; open it and enjoy !

Well Im on FCP 7, which is sweet, but now im actually started using imovie instead because FCp dont support the mp4 files from GoPro. Have to convert every single clip with Compressor to make it work in FCP.

What are the best export settings? Or what do you use at least

i'm also new but this is what i used:

filetype:
i rendered it as a WMV (v11) since i don't like having to use quicktime or something to play MP4 or mov
(why didn't i use MPEG? i don't know but i heard that mpeg is great for file compression but suffers under quality loss...)

template: depending on what mode you shot 720 or 1080 HD 30fps
don't use 25fps or anything else since your footage is shot at 30fps...

so: WMV, 720HD 30fps gives footage like this (its 70mb for 2min):
put HD ON to view in best quality


(sorry there isn't much skiing footage in there: i'm saving the skiing footage for a bigger edit in februari)

im trying to use that mpeg streamclip program for converting my vides to avi, but i dont kno what output i need to set it too. i open a file and then click export to avi and then that window comes up...what do i need to set the compression to????

well its hard to say if you want to keep it legal. Most editing programs cost money.... However VLC is on the verge of having their own editing software thats free and should be pretty descent and support most file types
