You dont need to use any of that software, assuming its a PC. You
can use itunes but it takes a little work. I will try to be as accurate if i can with this but i cant guarantee i remember exactly how to do it because it has been a while. Also this is for vista, i think its very similar for XP and 7 so it should still work, you may just have to figure a few things out your self.
1.) Connect your ipod to your computer. When it asks if you want to sync with the new library, say no. Check the boxes for "Manually Manage Music" and "Enable Disk Use".
2.) Go to the control panel and find "Folder Options". You can just search for it if you have to. Go to the View tab and find the option for "Show Hidden Files and Folders". Make sure that option is selected.
3.) Go to my computer and double click on your ipod. You should now be able to see the folder that has the music in it. I cant remember if its called Music, Library, etc but it shouldnt be hard to figure out. its the one with tons of music files in it. Drag that folder onto your desktop or anywhere else on your new computer. Depending on how much music you have it may take a while to transfer.
4.) Go back to iTunes and go to File> Add Folder to Library. Find the folder you just dragged to your computer. Select it and click open. It will now add all the contents of that folder to your itunes library, which if it is the correct folder means your music.
5.) Once your library is fully restored you can sync to the new computer if you want.
This has worked for me on numerous occasions. Good luck.
