Atomic Bent Chetler and Armada JJ

Are these the same ski?

I mean the shape is near identical as is the rocker

I have only rode the JJ so don't know... but im intrigued as to whether this is so.

I know Atomic press Armadas skis so it is not out the question.

basicly yes, same exact construction, just the bents are 7mm wider and the JJs have a tiny bit more side cut

bents more poppy and fun, wont charge as hard though. pretty similar

JJs hardly charge hard... i was massively let down by them. expected so much but actually prefer my old JJs from 07/08 before they added rocker.

They are such dope skis for big mountain and even have fun dabbling in the park on them.

bents are like jjs on steroids. both will perform pretty similar in trees and deep pow. but bents are heavier, a little stiffer, and can ski big lines with more stability.

i disagree

i found the bents to be better in pow and park because of the width and slightly softer and more even flex. but for groomers/ charging; JJ's all the way.

just my opinion

you thought bents had more flex? maybe i'm dumb or something but i thought jjs were softer haha. whatever though they're both great skis. and if you want one powder/all mountain ski either of these will work for you.

Chetlers have a more even softer flex, JJs have a soft nose and tail(where the skis tapered/rockered) but are stiffer skis.  Both measure 183 along the base.  Chetlers are about .8lbs heavier I think(JJs are 9.5lbs).  IMO, JJs have wayyy too much sidecut.  They have the lower end of slalom skis turn radius'.  Chetlers are straighter underfoot, which is a very good thing in pow and it means they make better medium-long turns on groomers. Chetlers are more poppy, but not "JJs on steroids".  They sort of fling you through a turn in deep pow.  They are also a little wider than JJs.

I liked Chetlers, but they were too short(plus softer than I wanted, but they have a real poppy flex, which the camber made even more poppy) for me to buy(I got 189 LL2s for my pow-jib ski, and personally don't like camber on my powder skis(JJs and Chetlers have about the same amount of camber)).

Not at all though they both come off the same production line. I own both and can tell you that they are not the same ski. The design is similar but the small differences between the two provide varying performance depending on what and where you are skiing.

For pow days up here in the PNW the Chets are go to. When it comes to an all mountain everyday ski its the JJ. Don't get me wrong, the JJ does extremely well in pow, but I find the Chets to be a lot more fun, better float, and quicker responsiveness when its deep. The Chet's design does allow it to work well outside of pow but the waist is much more present when making turns then the JJ. This performance may also may be due to the widest part of the JJ being further back and closer to the forward mount then the Chets. For everything other then pow the JJ's tip and tail bust the crud, the design allows for quick turns in the steeps, and the weight plays well for backcountry and sidecountry. As for the park, thats what park skis are for. If you are looking to compare the two and make a purchase the JJ will work better all around Whistler ski, but if you want the best pow sticks go with the Chets.

I know its a pathetic reason but i really dont like the JJ topsheet this year and its put me off buying them. however, i have seen the ones for next year and they look DOPE.

God i feel horrible admitting i dismissed a ski because of its topsheet.....

Not at all, but you really don't like the whacked out Alice In Wonderland? I'm kinda on the same lines with this years Chets. Though cool, I prefer the top sheets and bases on last years model. Personally, this years JJ top sheet is the best one yet, but I'd be interested to know what next years look like. Got any pics?
