Smelly Crowbars

I got a Great deal on some Oakley Crowbars from a buddy, but they smell like campfire like crazy since he wore them around a campfire at the base of our park alot, I wondered if there was any way to get the scent out by cleaning them or something?

Take out the lense and put them in the washingmachine with some sheets or somthing .

okay so i took the lense out and wiped it with a wet paper towel, and now it looks like the inner lense is foggy

oh that is the worst thing you could have done!!
there is an anti fog layer on the inside of Oakley lenses. when you wipe it with anything wet, u ruin the layer and therefore the lense. there is no warranty and no way to fix it. looks like youre out about $80. same thing happened to my a-frame lenses a while back

you can still partially solve (not fix) the problem with anti-fog drops...

but seriously, don't you like campfire smell?
when my shirts smell like burnt wood i always feel bad when i have to wash em :(

Why would you try to clean the lense?? isnt it more likley that the face foam is what trapped the scent. and like i am god said who dosent like campfire smell

Thanks for the info, I was actually able to buff the foggy looking layer off , but now im guessing there is no fog protection, so what kind of anti fog drops are there and where can i get them?

seriously? how did you? break the lenses apart or used a toothpick and a piece of cotton to pry between ?

maybe you can give this a try:

every decent diving store has these; you rub it on; spread it out very thin, let the solvents evaporate and you're left with a very thin and fragile greasy layer over the lense that will prevent condensation of water drops...

i think you can also find a similar product in motorbike shops...
and maybe even in specialized camera stores....

All I did was use some plastic cleaner and i buffed it all out, I went out side and they seem to work fine, but ill probably start looking for a new lense any way

dude, do you have any idea how much of a pain in the ass it is to get new lenses?
i advice you to try fixing this shiz first....

unless you have money and time to spare...

i ve must of did the same thing to my a frames about month ago... really snowy day hiking the park and i kept wiping the inside with my gloves... good to know for the future + karma

one thing tho, NEVER wipe your lenses with anything other than an oakley cloth or bag, and NEVER wipe them off if they are wet

The best thing to do is to not wipe the inside of the lens AT ALL. It's totally fine like polishing up the outside, but seriously do not rub the inside of any lens ever. I've ruined a pair, my 9 year old bro ruined a pair, my mom ruined a pair. Thank goodness for backcountry's return policy.
