To be fair the lights had been blinking since i left for work yesterday at 10:30 am and the ban was supposed to start at 10 pm. It is a shitty fucking ticket though. I got a $60 ticket this summer for parking outside oakledge. The was about 50 cars parked there and only 5 of us got tickets. I was in the lucky 5. FUCK BURLIGNTON METERMAIDS

Check your email. UVM forwards the parking ban email before every storm.
I'm in MA, and I got the email. It came at 2:53 pm on 1/2/2010. Here's what it says:
"A parking ban has been declared by the City of Burlington starting at 10:00 P.M. Saturday Jan 2, 2010. Due to the possible length of this storm you should expect that the ban may last into Sunday night also. In all residential areas vehicles must be removed from all streets between 10:00 and 7:00 A.M. Within the business area (Zone F) vehicles must be removed from all streets and city owned parking lots between 12:00 and 6:00 A.M.
Vehicles left on city streets and in city lots will be towed to another location and receive $100.00 parking tickets.
You may park in any City owned parking garage between 10:00 and 7:00 with no charge. Please do not park on the top floor (roof) as they have to be plowed also.
For updated information call 658-SNOW.

Also, I just got an email (10:44 am on 1/3/10) saying it was extended:
"The parking ban declared by the City of Burlington will be continued to Sunday night Jan 3, 2010. All vehicles must be removed from all city streets and parking lots to allow the City to plow streets and lots.
Parking is available in City owned parking garages from 10:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. with no charge. Please do not park on the roof of the garage to allow it to be plowed also.
Vehicles on the streets or in parking lots will be towed to another location and receive $100.00 tickets.

new law? How long have you been in Burlington? Parking bans have been going on forever dude, every major storm, since before you were born.
Get pissed all you want, but it's your own damn fault. guess you learned the hard way...
