Yet another frontflip help thread

Ok but this one is not the same as the others anyways I was thinking that im going to try them tommorow since were getting a few inchs. Anyways I can frontflip on the ground and I was thinking that if I were to put on my boots and huck a few without skis this would help me anyone tried this before? And you think its a good idea?

Anything's for sure: It can't NOT help you. You will get a feeling of a front flip with the extra weight i guess.

so go out there and flip son!

If you could frontflip off the ground, you definitely could on skis. Just completely commit and you will make it around.

i think u should just try it with skis u will prob just end up hurtin ur self trying it with just boot on bc u can jump as high etc.

anyone have any advice for throwing a front by buttering with one foot forward? i built a small jump (like 5ft)  in my backyard and tried a front on it but only made it 3/4 of the way around. so i thought if i buttered with one foot forward i could throw it faster. but it felt so awkward going up the jump and trying to butter. any advice?

and i never actually tried the front by buttering lol, it felt too weird throwing my weight forward going up a jump.

thing about frontflips on skis is don't be a pussy and do it on a small jump there much harder because thats like ninja flips, go to your smoothest jump, i reccomend a true table or a gradual step up, or even build your own back country jump like 25 ft and instead of hucking like a trampoline dive forward off the lip when your tips hit the top of the lip, while throwing your feet up behind you, then whip your upper body down and fully commit you'll feel the flip easily come around and you will STOMP it. front flips are not as hard as they seem just go for it good luck!!

I think that doing it off a small jump, cat track, etc would be a god place to start. I would not call it a butter, more of a kick. Think of it like a soccer throw-in. Arms straight and extended, get thrown from head to hips while you bring your foot forward an kick it back in the same motion. Go into the tuck and hold it until you come around.
If you want to do it over a bigger jump, where you actually take of correctly, spot your landing, and have control. Start with moose ears, hands near ears, on take off, dive out over the jump hands straight out, spot landing, tuck it in and extend on the landing. I have heard of people freeking out when diving out, or just doing a 3/4, when trying it this way for the first couple of times. Thus I would recommend the first one to try first.

What i did was tried it on the biggest jump we had in our park.  It was only like 20 feet or so but its all about commitment.  You just have to forget about all the bad things that could go wrong.

Just crank the music and throw it hard.

(unless your landing on something really hard like a rock or thick ice then then it wont hurt at all if you dont make it all the way around.)

It's WAY harder to do with with just boots than without boots or with skis on because you can't move you ankles like you can without the boots, but you don't have the extra pop that your skis give you. Just go out there tomorrow and commit to it 100%, make sure you have enough speed (maybe just a little bit more than you think you need - but not much, and definitely not less) and pop hard, throw it, tuck, and land. The thing that being able to do it on the ground without skis is going to help you with is the commitment, the tuck/flip itself, but most importantly is the air awareness - knowing when you've finished flipping so you don't over/under rotate. Frontflips on skis are like 10x easier than you think theyll be. I just lean back a little before the lip, and then throw everything forward and pull my knees up, and the flip just happens. Once you do your first youll wonder why you hadnt tried yet, theyre that easy

watch the tech talk episode on punch fronts, explains it wicked good. do those on a small jump/big knoll, and then once ur confident just dump em over normal on bigger jumps. If you can do no bouncers on tramps, and ur not a pussy and commit, the absolute worst thing that happens is you land on youre back and youre fine. Chances are you make it all the way around
