Tele Skiers (peaceful rivalry)

I think i am safe to get up whenever i want and go ski chutes and drop steeps, but i am always wrong. It seems like from the second i learned to ski chutes and steeps i have had to sprint to my favorite lines just to beat out those damn free heelers. I cant charge some steep terrain when there are tele pits scattered across every line. And the worst part is you cant beat them to the hill; they simply just appear out of the trees come first chair. Their like zombies lured in by the smell of human flesh, they will never stop hunting you down.

First those hippies beat you to the hill, then they drop into your favorite bowl and dig a fat tele pit on the first turn and stop just to get a better look at the line. I have fallen victim to many tele pits on low visibilty days.

No intense hate intended i just want to know if any one else feels like tele skiers are their natural enemy and if any one finds themselves in a constant hurry to ski the chutes before the herds of heel flappers come and tear it to shit.

be fortunate you get to ski sick line regardeless if they have been riden or not. I am getting sick of staying the park all the time, i want something fun to ride. I mean glades are fun but get repetitive

they love skiing just as much (if not more) then you do, and if they wanna look back and appreciate what they skied, who are you to try and stop them? i've actually always wanted to try it but i haven't gotten around to it

haha yeah man they always destroy you on the flats, and beat you to that line. Tele's are gnarly, and they all kill it super hard.

I do not hate tele skiers. They are some of the tightest people, with that said they are just the type of people who will beat you to that line. You think you are alone in the trees, you find a nice line and sit back to smoke a bowl then right as your putting your gloves back on a tele skier makes some log drop out of nowhere and has the best time cruising through you dream feature. Its more an issue of shaking my fist and tearing down the hill to get a better chair. i knew the hate would follow.

I don't really understand tele skiing. i don't dislike it, in fact i've wanted to try it forever, and seeing a dude on teles who rips is awesome. but i can't imagine that it's more fun than alpine. you can't really go as fast, you can't really ride switch, and jumps in general are way tougher. i figure the only advantage is you can skin up, but AT bindings solved that. my interest in teleing is about the same as my interest in snowboarding: I want to try it, and i think it's cool, but i would never choose to always tele. no hate, but the way i see it, people tele because they want to say they tele, and like one of my favorite bumper stickers says: "nobody cares that you tele"

that's my 2 cents.

i love telemark.

i want a pair real bad, but i need to buy a vehicle first...

most of the guys i ski with tele, and they rip.

the only thing i dislike about telesis how damn pretentious it is, it's like cross country (which i do).
example:

teles are for real skiers who really love skiing.

cross country is for people who do real sports, not pussies that play football.

It's been said, but really telemarkers are the same as skiers. For me it looks harder and slower than alpine, but if they enjoy it I'm all for it.

The only ones that annoy me, and this goes for boarders (and skiers who hate on boarders and tele-ers) as well, are the ones who think they are way cooler because they telemark, it's all just sliding down a snowy hill, lose the attitude.

Tele skiin is god! if you get bored of your typical daily sesh, and need a challenge, look no further than tele! and tele allows you to get so much more creative in the park

I have never tele'd before, but they always seem to charge hard, especially the super steep stuff. And I've seen people tele'ing on everything from K2 Extremes to Gotamas, which suggests they're not too different from the kind of people NS attracts.

i love teleing. it doesnt compare to alpine no but teleing is fun, so maybe you should try it and get the the chutes with all the other ones

A beginner skiier or evena  snowboarder can do just as much, if not more damage to "fresh pow" than a tele skiier can.  This is a stupid thread, tele skiing are our roots, its how skiing started...there is no valid argument here

Don't be hatin'

I've never noticed any snow being any worse because a telemarker has skied on it.  For the most part, it seems tele skiers are super chill and pretty nice.  And if they love the sport enough to always get first tracks, then props to them, they earn it.  Looks like they're winning the "peaceful rivalry" at your mountain.
