Lagging problem ..

I tried to see what i've film during the day with my hdtv, hey it was so great, the image quality was perfect, i was stoked. but when i export the files on my pc, i watch them with quicktime, and it lags. so i tried on the 2 other computers that I got at home, same problem.
two questions: Do I have to switch some of my computer component to get this problem switch, if yes what part? this is my computer stats: -
-Vista service pack 1
-Hp pavillion dv6700 Notebook PC
-Intel core 2 duo CPU  @1.83GHz
-'memoire vive' (don't know how to say that in english..) 3.00 Go
My guess is that I have to buy a new Graphic card..
Second question: can i just change the file in another format, live .wma or .avi to fix the problem, if yes, how can i do that?

the technology to review these massive files is lagging. you probably need a new graphics card at least. mine does the same. HDTV with Playstation3 works best I've found :)

get MPEG Streamclip. if you convert your footage to .avi, it will run much faster in editing programs. i used this and it worked amazingly.

 I had the same problem and I was told that i needed a new computer (by eheath cause he is soooooo smart)

but that is definitely NOT the case

MPEG stream clip is the answer to your problems.

DL that and convert them to .AVI
They will work great and wont lag at all

Does this effect the quality much? I have the same lagging problems on my laptop. But I am getting a new desktop for some programs I need to use for class. Hopefully it'll be enough. Plus i'll be editing on an HDTV as my monitor.

I had a problem with this when I was editing myself. Just YouTube how to fix lagging HD footage. There's a bunch of different little trick to get it to play smoother.
