hey dude i am coming to utah with my dad for a ski trip and we are coming on january 15 for 4 days. i am really exited and have always wanted to ski here. we have been trying to plan our trip and i was wondering what resorts are the best ones to go to for powder skiing. and if the snow will be deep while i am there. hey any help would really help me and my dad have a blast skiing in utah. thanks guys.

If the storms keep coming Powder Mountain, cat skiing for $12 a ride, and its 7,700 acres. tons of fun skiing without the cat as well. definitely a locals style resort though. no gondolas, and no real restraunts. Alta is a blast as is the bird. and Basin is also sick though the last three you have to catch day of for the goods.

hi! i´m from spain,and i´m heading powder mountain tomorrow morning! i´m so excited! i love skiing ligh-fresh-mega-deep powder and here in the pyrenees we dont have the best snow on earth! hehe.

there is in odgen a god freeskiing shop? i wanna buy some cool outwear...

And there is Decade in South Ogden.  It's the best shop you'll find though.

Fahey is right, Decade is the shop to be at in O town. its in south ogden right by costa vida. they open at 10:00 and close at 8:00 they still have some jibberish left and some super sick Armada outerwear Tell Coultin Weston sent you. I'll be up there first thing in the morning as well, in the Green and Pink armada jacket come say whats up I'll show you some sick lines.

Yeah I'ts $12 to grab a knot on a rope and get dragged up a cat track  You could skin almost as fast or walk up in 15 min.

PS there is  a reason only 1/2 the runs are open and I don't think they're measuring that 44" base off any of those closed runs.

Don't get me wrong I heart pow mow just a lot of better skiing and conditions in the cottonwoods right now

solitude is a lot of fun for pow, mainly because the mountain is always empty so lines stay fresh a lot later.

they haven't had the rope set up for 3 years, the cat skiing isn't open yet but probably will be tomorrow its all groomed out. its the same as everywhere else in utah. not much snow yet, but the back country has been fun to slash around in.

I would make snowbird my first stop if I were you, lots of space to explore so even if the snow isn't epic you'll be entertained by the terrain, and if it does snow a lot the night before you will jizz your pants. Alta is similar just not as big so if there isn't enough fresh now it gets boring faster.

obviously Alta is a recommend, but powder might be scarce for awhile the ol High pressure is settling in for the long haul

2 weeks for UT is like predicting a year in advance. Right now this week doesn't look promising, really high pressure and nothing is moving around too fast. You never know though a system could move in next week and bring some of that fluffy stuff.

There's still plenty of fresh snow to be had. All day yesterday I skied untouched snow, you have to hike for it, but it's there. Just use your head and don't go into anything too gnarly, also keep in mind north facing stuff is generally your best bet right now.

hey dudes,
my utah trip started yesterday, i went to brighton resort and it was awesome. Everybody is talking about snowbird and alta, but right now it havent snowed since on week, so there is no snow in the in-bounds. Brighton backcountry is so easy to acces, we climbed 20 minutes to one peak, and skied in nice powder, huge cliffs, and the powder was not that fluffy, so we did not hit rocks. Brighton is sick, I've heard about powder mountain, but I just can't go there beacause there is no buses or trax to go there.
