Should LINE warranty my Anthems? (With pictures)

So I bought a pair of 178 Octoland Anthems late in the summer 08. I've loved the skis themselves, they've preformed very well. But the quality has been less than satisfactory. The biggest problem is the edge is ripping out of the where they join at the tail and it's taking the base material with it. It's not like the very tip of the tail of my ski takes any abuse really at all, in fact the skis in general have been taken care of fairly well and don't have a ton of use. No more than 30 days on hill, (only half of those in the park) probably another 25 spent in my backyard, and have seen no urban. Also, the top sheets are beat to hell, even more than any cap construction ski I've ever had.

They should warranty them b/c line is legit and many people have had this problems with the limited edish anthems...

yeah, they should warranty that, I mean, that's just outrageous for how many times you've skied on them. That's shit you get when you ski down a tar road.

Probably... the beat up top sheets won't help you though.  The only reason top sheets tend to get damaged is from people kicking skis together on lifts or some other form of  "misuse".

don't worry.. my heel piece of my marker griffon ripped off from my anthems yesterday ! my skis are useless now and I'm trying to get them to the shop and warranty them...

but damn.. that sucks huge balls -.-'

your shop will probably heli-coil them if possible first.  or flip them around and remount. they will push this, it may be ok, it may not be depending on how close the holes are. i would ask to see where they intend on re-drilling, there should be 1cm of good topsheet material between the new hole and the old holes. how long ago did the shop mount your bindings and how many days did you ski on them? i would also ask if they mount by hand(screwdriver) or with a drill. if they say drill, ask if they use a clutch. if they don't use a clutch and hand tighten the binding down to finish, ask for a new pair of ski's because they are doing it wrong.


To the OP 
that should be a warrenty, if its not, some 24 hour epoxy, wax paper, couple of plastic scrapers, some c clamps, and about 5 minutes of work and 24hr's of drying time they could be bomber.

the shop mounted my griffons on my anthems a month ago and I skied them 5 times this year.. and the binding ripped out cause I just leaned foward to make a nose stall... but instead.. I did a faceplant into a wall. and they had mount them with a drill who the shop tech torked it too high... and yes sir, I'm gonna ask for a new pair of skis instead of heli-coil or everything who can be done with that.. ;)

i may also be the skis to, unless you saw them mount them. some skis just have rotten cores.

Just heli-coils doesn't cut it in a rip out situation. They owe you a pair.

Everything else set aside, I love Lines edges....  You might as well ask them, but is that from multiple massively backseat landings?

I would not be surprised if they would not. 
I don't have lines, but my skis edges ripped out everywhere in 20 days.  I would have been happy if it was just the tail. 
That being said I hope they do warranty your skis, but if they don't just cut the edge off.

damn dude thats pretty bad. i had mine for a couple days this season and already tore up the top sheet pretty good which they said they wouldn't warranty but this i bet they should. contact the shop you bought them at or line directly and email them those pictures, it would suck to pay for the shipping to send them in and not get the warranty, they're pretty quick with their replies.

ine really needs to improve their durability, the skis perform pretty sweet but i'm scared i'm gona have your same issue in another month. i've got 4 yr old salomon 1080s that i've trashed and they look better then my new anthems

to add to that line's website says they only warranty skis for manufacturing problems so don't be too surprised if they don't take them, good luck though

the delam in both tails is a manufacturer defect. there are about 100 other kids that could post pics of anthems and invaders like that.

to the o.p that said he tried the epoxy method...
sounds like you did it wrong if its failed that bad again.
i have done in to numerous pairs of customers and friends and they don't look like that after 2 years after the repair

lolz pretty sure I did it right.

1. I put a hair dryer on it for 2 hours just to make sure all the moisture had evaporated.
2. I mixed the epoxy in a warm place and it was all applied and clamped on the ski in less than 20 minutes.
3. It dried for over 24 hours.

what type of epoxy did you use? how long did it take tro fall apart. if you were off on your mixture with the resin and hardener, it would cause it to fall apart. try for warrenty, if not th same procedure and  i would through 2 nuts and bolts threw each tail like rivets, or if you have access to a riveter that would be ideal.

1. Plastic Steel.
2. No more than 3 runs.
3. I could use a riveter, but my primary concern is more of my edge falling out. And rivets can't really avoid that...

i staple gunned my edge back into my old invaders and then did the epoxy job. could i recomend  getting some loctite 608 hysol epoxy , the most flexable and strongest epoxy i have found for de-lams and edge repairs.
i can guarantee it will last awhile for you. if you got any questions you can p.m me, i have about 12 years experience with major re-pairs like this.

i was skiing today and i saw a kid with the exact same situation as you, his was all taped up and it just came out in the middle of the trail and had to ski down the rest of the trail with one ski. just goes to show that there are multiple people with this exact problem on the octolands, good luck man
